National Hunting and Fishing Day 2026:

On the fourth Saturday of every September, National Hunting and Fishing (NHF) Day recognizes generations of sportsmen and women for their contributions to the conservation of our nation’s rich sporting heritage and natural resources.

One of the main goals of National Hunting and Fishing Day is to recruit new hunters and anglers by encouraging participation and increasing public awareness of the connection between hunting, angling, and conservation.

Through self-imposed fees and excise taxes, sportsmen and women have raised more than $57 billion–that’s more than $100,000 every 30 minutes being raised for conservation. NHF Day is the largest, most effective grassroots movement ever undertaken to promote outdoor sports and conservation.

It started right here at DELAWARE COUNTY FIELD AND STREAM as an annual Club event originally known as Sportsman Day and was the beginning of what would become National Hunting & Fishing Day all over the U.S.A. Former Club President, 1974-1975, Ira Joffe, who conceived the idea and promoted it, was invited to the official signing of the state proclamation that made the first statewide Pennsylvania Sportsmen’s Day. It was the beginning of what would become National Hunting and Fishing Day all over the USA.

We have many invited guests, vendors, a flea market and lunch for purchase (cash only)

Range Officers will be available to assist and instruct those who are beginner shooters and archers.

Due to the popularity of this Program YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER AT 610.872.9728 by September 24, 2026 during the hours of 10:00 am until 4:00 pm to participate in this event. Space is limited. ONLINE SIGN UP AVAILABLE HERE.

Signing of the waiver by guests is still required at the clubhouse

Save the dates: New Shotgun Clinic: Introduction to shotgun games: August 15 - Sep 12 (Saturday Mornings/afternoons)

More info to follow, but this clinic will be for members who have little-to-no experience with clay sports. This clinic will start with the very basics at table trap, then progressing "up the hill" to trap, s***t, and finally five stand.

This clinic is intended for those who have no/very little experience with shotgun sports / clay targets.

More info to follow with sign up.

Thanks to the generosity of the Pennsylvania Game Commission and the hard work of pistol chief range officer Steve Thomer, Delaware County, Field & Stream qualified for a grant which completely covered all of the costs required to add the five new short range pistol lanes which our club members are enjoying today.… Another fine example of conscientious club management.

Hunters Safety Course AUG 16: More information below:

Event - Pennsylvania Hunter-Trapper Education - August 16, 2026 in Philadelphia, PA

This is a six-hour training class required by law for all first-time hunters and trappers before they can buy a license. You must pass a certification exam at the end of the class to complete this training.

Important In order to prepare for your class, read Chapters 1, 4, 5 and 9 located at Today's Hunter & Trapper in PA.

The 2026 DCFS S***t Pentathlon concluded on a rainy Saturday, 6/27/26. Two squads braved the rain showers, at times shooting in heavy rain, but at least it wasn't cold. The final event was the annual Ed Mayne Pump gun challenge, held in memory of Ed Mayne, who exclusively shot s***t with a pump shotgun. These events are not National S***t Shooting Association (NSSA) registered events, as the "rules" are changed from normal competitions. This year there were events using side-by-side shotguns only, sub gauge for bonus points, reverse s***t, the pump shotgun event and more

Staying safe (as always), having fun and facing new challenges were the goals.

Current Members in good standing are invited to attend a General Membership Meeting to be held on June 24th at 7:00 PM in the main clubhouse.

In our continuing effort to encourage open communication relative to club affairs, membership is welcome to bring forth any and all concerns, complaints and/or compliments at this meeting.

The planned agenda is a report on the current state of club affairs, to include a financial update, status of current capital expenditure projects and plans for the balance of 2026.

All members are encouraged to attend, and as always, you will need to wear your Club ID and will be required to sign-in at the door.
