FREE..FREE..FREE...everyone who comes to eat with us on New Years Day will get complimentary side of cabbage and black eyed peas!!! Can't wait to get started again. We are still a ways off from good family fun weather. We have been working on some of our fish habitats for spring and it cant come fast enough. I'm tired of this cold weather...enough is enough! We look forward to the laughs and the fellowship we have together.
Stay turned, watch out for our fishing reports, we will be letting you know when it's just right to go have a fun day catchin' fish, eating Texas Joe's on board lunches and enjoying each other's company. After doing a lot of searching in our area I have discovered a good bit of new growth of hydrilla on our end of the lake. It is sparce in some areas, but it looks as if hope is on the way.....I'm excited at what I'm seeing since over the last 2-3 years hydrilla was nearly non exisistant. We are receiving some showers over the last 2-3 weeks in small amounts. The lake has actually risen some, very little, but if we can continue with receiving rain and the lake rises slowly the hydrilla beds should survive as long as they don't get covered with muddy exceptionally high water. This is good news for the fish, and the fishermen. Here is a photo of some of the rain we are getting at the present time. Springtime fishing should really be good for crappie and bass if this continues. Remember....everyday you fish adds a day to your life!๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿค โค๏ธ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ

The Crappie fishing right now is minimal at best. Now that the main tributaries are muddied up I'm sure it hasn't improved. The Crappie are in a transition period of pre spawn and are staging in the creeks. There are a few that always are late bloomers, but to catch a limit on this end of the lake is a all day affair. I have taken this opportunity to get some honey-do's done, got to visit with my new Grandson Alan, enjoy some deer hunting, and I also put in about 15 additional brushpiles for crappie fishing during Thanksgiving weekend, and also got some bass fishing in. I will stay in contact with the crappie fishing in our area and as it develops I will forward what I know to our friends and clients. Texas Joe's Backporch BBQ is still rolling along even with a lot of our local rv parks running about 10-20 percent capacity. We have a good local repor with our BBQ customers and they know they can count on the BBQ being consistently good. We appreciate thier business and look forward to the early season bass tournaments to start and the Crappie making their way to thier happy spawning grounds which makes for a different kind of fun fishing. We miss you all at Texas Joe's and will be glad to put all the holidays behind us and continue to serve our restaurant and guide service clients. What a great day with a Father and Son crew on board!!! Al and Todd Culver of Silsbee, Texas enjoyed a perfect day of "perch jerkin'"..plus Mrs.Texas Joe packed our cooler with Texas Joe's Smoked Chicken sandwiches, Tater chips....Yummy!!!๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿค โค๏ธ...we limited out on really nice Crappie,plus caught several Kentucky as well. Topped the day with Texas Joe's BBQ, and a tall glass of homemade Sweet Tea.

Just to stay in contact with my good customers and friends. Fishing right now has slowed somewhat. Now then....don't get me wrong, a bad day fishing is still better than a good day working! But.. there are better days ahead. Yes you can catch some, but with the high water Temps, outside air Temps, the fishing is not as fun right now as it is during cooler times. We have several trips on the books for October already, but don't overlook November!!! The last two years around mid November was some of the most phenomenal crappie fishing you could ask for. Hopefully if water levels are good we should be on track for another repeat performance. Contact me for availability of dates that fits your schedule.
