Since its beginning, Chris Corkum's Baseball, Inc. has become renowned throughout Southern New England. In 1984, Corkum decided that the best way to maintain his connection between teaching and baseball was to create his own baseball school. has become renowned throughout Southern New England for the excellence of its baseball programs. Players of all ages, from tee-ballers to adults, come for pri

vate instruction to the batting cages and pitchers mounds which are located in a secluded rural area behind the Broad Brook home Corkum shares with his wife Paula. Chris is also helped out by a fantastic team of coaches, some of which have scouting affiliations with major league teams. They share in common the pleasure they get from being outdoors hearing the crack of the bats, the constant whirring of the pitching machines and the chatter of kids of all ages as they play ball. Baseball is serious fun for these guys and gals. Corkum's private "Field of Dreams" is just one place to get his special brand of baseball instruction for kids. Each springs and summer he take the "show on the road" to towns across Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. Working with town Park and Recreation Departments and Little League associations, Corkum conducts Summer Baseball Camps for groups numbering roughly 20 to 100. The camps teach baseball fundamentals such as pitching, hitting, baserunning, fielding, strategy and of course, good sportsmanship. A few notable former campers include current Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Nick Ahmed and former major league pitcher Chris Capuano. A few notable former coaches include Neal Huntington, the current General Manager for the Pittsburgh Pirates, John Couture, the former Mental Skills Coordinator for the Cleveland Indians and Greg Morhardt, the scout who discovered Mike Trout.

And we have another 44s college commitment! This time its former Captain (and currently the only 44 in our history to win 2 Championships) Corey Culhane.

Corey will officially be attending Endicott College next Fall to continue his studies and his baseball career!

As one of the handful of players to have begun playing with us as Freshman (check out the attached photos to see one from each of his 4 seasons) we had the privilege of watching Corey grow into the player he's become and cannot to see how much more he grows in College!

Just when you thought we were out of 44s content we’re back for just a little bit more!

The first thing we wanted to share is our new 44s logo for the 2026 season and beyond!

And the second thing we’re very excited to share is that Ivan Hramiak will be joining Zavier Hunt & Steve “Scooter” Tantillo as a Captain for 2026 Fall Season! Ivan is the 15th Captain in 44s history and we cannot wait to see him in the role come next season.

The Corkum 44s have finished their season on top! Defeating the NxTLvL Beast 6–2 to claim the Western Massachusetts Fall High School Baseball League Championship!

After falling behind 1–0 in the 1st, the 44s answered quickly and never looked back. In the 3rd inning, Ivan Hramiak ripped a Double to center to tie the game before Steve “Scooter” Tantillo followed with an RBI Single to give the 44s a 2–1 lead.

From there, the offense kept rolling. Zavier Hunt and Corey Culhane were a force at the top of the order, each collecting 3 Hits and 1 RBI. Bryce Gudeman added an RBI of his own with a Sac Fly in the Top of the 7th to help pad the lead. Tommy Fortunato and Mason Leone also chipped in with Hits to round out the 10-Hit performance.

On the mound, Culhane earned the Win with 3 strong innings, allowing just 1 Hit and 1 Earned Run while striking out 5. Hunt followed with 3 hitless innings of relief, striking out 3 while Leone closed the door with a clean 7th to seal the Championship.

The Win marks the 2nd Fall Championship in program history, with both coming in the past four years across two different leagues. It also represents the 44s’ 5th Championship appearance ever (all occurring in the last eight seasons).

Sunday also marked a meaningful farewell for the team’s three seniors — Bryce Gudeman, Brenten Stevens, and Corey Culhane.

Gudeman and Stevens each joined the 44s this fall and were integral to the team’s championship run on both sides of the ball. Culhane, a four-year member and two-year captain, has been a Corkum staple in that time and closes his career as the only player in team history with 2 Championships, having also won as a Freshman in 2022.

We will sorely miss all three of them but wish them the absolute best in their futures both on and off the field!

We’d also like to issue a thank you to you, our entire Corkum Baseball community — for following along, cheering, and supporting this group all season long. We can’t wait to run it back in 2026!

And though our 44s updates are on hold until next Fall, always keep an eye out here for other Corkum’s Baseball related updates!

The 44s are heading to the Western Massachusetts Fall High School Baseball League Championship!

In what was a tough extra inning battle from both teams, the game came to an end in the Bottom of the 8th after Bryce Gudeman blasted the first pitch of the inning over the Left Field wall for a Walk-off Home Run sealing the 6–5 win over Rip City Riptide (Team 2)!

Down 4-1 through 3.5 Innings the 44s responded with a four-run 4th sparked by a separate Gudeman RBI and patient at-bats from Corey Culhane, Ivan Hramiak, and Mason Leone who all drew bases loaded Walks to make the score 5–4.

Rip City tied it again in the 5th with a solo Home Run of their own, but the scoring for both teams would stall there until Gudeman’s heroics ended things.

Gudeman also started the game on the mound striking out 5 across 2.2 innings of work. Brenten Stevens, Steve “Scooter” Tantillo, Culhane, & Leone all worked in relief as all 5 pitchers did their job to keep the 44s in the game despite some early struggles on offense and defense. Leone earned the Win with a huge scoreless 8th while Culhane struck out 8 over 3 hitless frames to push things to extras.

Beyond Gudeman’s Walk-off bomb & RBI Single, Tommy Fortunato had 2 Hits (a Double and a Triple) while Jay Klember, Stevens, and Culhane each added Singles to round out the 7-Hit effort.

The 44s will take on the NxTLvLBeast (1 Seed) in Tomorrow’s Championship Game which starts at 12:30 at Jachym Field in Westfield, MA. We hope to see a lot of familiar faces out to support!
