Charlotte Rose takes the ILCA 6 title at French Olympic Week 🏆

After eight days of racing in Hyères, France 🇺🇸 US athletes had another successful event on the Sailing Grand Slam circuit against some of the best Olympic sailors from around the world!

Charlotte Rose had the standout performance of the week, clinching gold on the final day. After finishing 14th in the qualifying series, Charlotte mounted a comeback, dominating the medal series and securing the win against a stacked ILCA 6 fleet — including former world and European champions.

Other strong performances across the board for US athletes:
🌀 Fresh of their second place finish in Palma, Nevin Snow & Ian MacDiarmid finished just off the podium in 4th🌀 Andrew Molleurs & Trevor Bornarth finished 5th in the 49er after leading early in the week🌀 Daniel delivered a race win in the ILCA 7 fleet

“This week delivered an exceptional range of conditions for the athletes — from light air to heavy breeze and challenging sea states,” shared Director of Olympic Sailing Molly Vandemoer. “It’s been incredibly encouraging to see such strong performances from the U.S. athletes.”

Two silver and two top-four finishes for the USA to close out the Princesa Sofia regatta 🥈🥈

After six days of racing on the Bay of Palma, Nevin Snow / Ian MacDiarmid delivered a standout performance to secure silver in the 49er, while Noah Lyons added another silver in the Men’s iQFOiL fleet. Lyons’ second place comes in a fleet with all medalists from the Paris 2024 Olympic in attendance – so it was game ON 🔥

Just shy of the podium, Noah Runciman placed 4th in Men’s Kite, Daniela Moroz placed 6th in the Women’s Kite, and Charlotte Rose finished 4th in ILCA 6—highlighting how close the US athletes came to multiple medals across fleets. In total, 47 American athletes competed, showcasing the country's depth and competitive strength on the world stage.

With shifting conditions testing adaptability all week, the regatta proved to be a key early benchmark. Team USA entered the final day in medal contention in five fleets—an impressive signal of momentum and what’s ahead as the Olympic season gets underway ⛵️🔥

Postcards from Palma 🇪🇸

Things are heating up at the Trofeo Princesa Sofía as we move into the second half of the season opener! After a team dinner bringing together nearly 60 athletes and support staff under the USA banner, sailors hit the ground running. They’ve faced a wide variety of conditions so far: a good test for the year to come 💪🏼

The ILCA 6, ILCA 7, Nacra 17, 49er, and 49erFX fleets advanced from the preliminary to the elimination stage today, part of a new scoring format being tested for Olympic classes. Each team or athlete will carry over their place in the preliminary stage as a non-discard score (so an athlete that finishes second overall in the preliminary stage will move to the elimination stage with two points, so on and so forth).

🇺🇸 Highlights so far:

– Nevin Snow / Ian MacDiarmid finish the 49er qualifying series in first, meaning they will carry only one point in to the elimination series, starting tomorrow.
– Also in the 49er fleet, Andrew Mollerus / Trevor Bornarth finish their preliminary series with a race win, setting the stage for tomorrow .
– Noah Runciman moves up to 5th in the Men’s Formula Kite, competing against the gold and silver medalists from Paris 2024.
– Daniela Moroz is knocking at the door of the Women’s Kite top three, sitting in fourth place against a strong field.
– Charlotte Rose bounds back to the top of the fleet, taking a second in her first elimination series race after coming in with 25 points from qualification stage.
– Noah Lyons remains in second in the iQFOiL Men.

ODP athlete Isabella Mendoza Cabezas secures top 10 at ILCA U21 Worlds 🎉

After seven days of tough competition and lots of good lessons learned, Isabella finished 9th in one of the toughest fleets in the world 🤙🏻 Conditions ran the gamut in Lanzarote, Spain, from 10 to 30 knots and challenging current conditions.

“Honesty, it was a really steep climb back up,” she said. “The last two days I managed to get back into my groove and clinch top ten. Although the ending was bittersweet, I am grateful for the lessons learned.”

The US Youth Worlds team has touched down in Portugal for a tough week of competition!

Sixteen American athletes ranging in age from 13 to 18 years old will hit the water at Youth Worlds Dec. 12-20, including returning Youth Worlds competitors Dylan Tomko and Casey Small in the Nacra 15 Class, who finished 5th at the 2024 Youth Worlds.

Team USA started off strong with a podium finish at the ILCA 6 2v2 Team Race Exhibition! It was a chance for the team to try a new discipline and test the format internationally - we’re looking forward to more chances to team race 👀 Now it’s on to the big show, with racing starting December 15. Let’s go 👊🏻

US Sailing would like to thank the Sailing Foundation of New York for their generous support of the 2025 US Youth Worlds Team - you guys make it all possible 👏🏻

Four days, 80 boats, full spectrum of conditions—our ILCA 7 Olympic Development Program squad showed up and competed hard at the international regatta in Vilamoura!

From drifters to 15–20 knot finals racing, our ILCA 7 ODP sailors handled it all:
⭐️ Chapman Petersen - 11th
⭐️ Daniel Escudero - 15th
⭐️ Leo Boucher - 16th
⭐️ Robbie Meek - 27th

From ODP Coach Luke Elliot: “Proud of this crew, especially those balancing college and high-level international competition. This early-season benchmark against a world-class fleet gives us exactly what we need as we refine our winter training and build toward 2026 and LA 2028.”

Huge thanks to and Schoonmaker Foundation for your continued support of our ODP athletes!
