I took my first visit to the Atlanta Fly Fishing yesterday . I am proud to be a member of the Umpqua Signature Tyers Team and spent some time tying some Rumpshakers and teaching people about fly tying. Thanks to the Umpqua Team that showed me great hospitality.

After 1 1/2 years of development and refinement and 2 years for manufacturing my Rumpshaker fly has finally found its way to a retail fly bin. It was a cool surprise to see my fly at Hunter Banks Fly Shop in Asheville. It’s been very rewarding to see all that effort pay off.

I just found this on the Umpqua’s Signature Tyers page. It’s an honor to be a part of a company celebrating its 50th year in business. The Rumpshaker will be in Fly Shops this spring. Excited to see my efforts in those fly bins.

2021 was a fantastic fishing year. Several fish that I caught last year were personal bests including a 47” 50lb Redfish, 26” Alaskan Rainbow, 19” Grayling and the elusive Sheefish that can only be caught in Alaska. What a great year on the water!

Here is another video from the Aniak River on my trip this summer. These Rainbows were both 24”. Mine was caught on a streamer, Joey’s fish inhaled a mouse pattern. Notice the voracious strike of the trout eating a mouse. That’s why we travel so many miles to see these predators in action. The Aniak River did not disappoint.

A short video from my trip to Alaska this summer. This would have been a personal best Pike. Pike have very hard boney mouths and it’s not easy to land them. It was a thrill to battle this beast and catch him with my fly The Rumpshaker even though he won the fight.
