Great class tonight focusing heavily on kihon waza; basic cuts, thrusts, blocks, and draws that from the basis of all Tamiya Ryu kata. We then proceed to work on details for Inazuma and Mune no Katana. Really happy with everyone’s recent progress!

Let’s continue to do our best to practice Tamiya Ryu.

Today the United States Tamiya Ryu Gennankai held the first All Member practice since celebrating its 25th anniversary. There was much news shared with the Gennankai members. Official announcements will be forthcoming however, I was absolutely surprised that Tsumaki Genwa sensei, 15th Soke of Tamiya Ryu, had decided to promote me to 6th degree and award me Jokyo (assistant professor) in Tamiya Ryu Iaijutsu. I can only say thank you to Soke sensei for his confidence and to Alexanian Gennan Buhaku sensei and to all the others that have contributed to my understanding of iai thus far. I hope to live up to the rank and title.

It was great to see everyone and to practice Tamiya Ryu Iaijutsu together.

More details to come but for now, here’s to another successful 25 years and many more!
