I was able to take a nice sized cow elk during the utah any legal weapon hunt. I also had an any bull tag but couldn't seem to find any bull elk to shoot at.

Always trying to improve. This was a wonky piece of rock that took some coaxing to become a point. This is one of my longer points, and notching has been a struggle to get right. These notches turned out pretty good.

I recently bought a 30lb box of mahogany obsidian. I received the box yesterday, and this was the first piece I worked on. It came out smaller than a knife and a little big for a true arrowhead, but overall, I think it looks good. For those curious, it weighs 135 grains and is 1.125 inches (2.8 cm) wide and about 2.75 inches (6.985 cm) long. It was made using direct percusion and pressure flaking.

How about a 101yrd shot with a 55lb copperhead bow TAW is right about 550 grains with somewhere close to 19%foc. It took a few tries, and I kept hitting right between the wooden base, but I got it in the end.

in Utah was great. This was my first year participating in this event, and it was fun. I could only do one day, so I made the best of it by shooting leupold in the morning and prime in the afternoon. Shooting 30-96 yds was a challenge with traditional gear, and I had some great shots and some really crappy shots, but it was still fun. I'll have a video up on YouTube this week.

I'm almost finished with this green and Osage orange kids bow, and I'm working on the green and bubinga kids bow. These will be available at the colorado traditional archery society (CTAS) high mountain shoot next week. Hope to see you there.

This was an awesome event, lots of great food, live music, and bladesmithing. It was nice to meet other smith's and have a friendly competition. I'll look forward to next year.
