Slow and steady wins the (fat loss) race!
Unless you’re on PEDs you will absolutely lose muscle if you go into an extreme caloric deficit (greater than 1% bodyweight lost per week). I always advise people to aim for between 0.5 and 1 lb of weight lost per week.
It will feel slow - much more slow than you would prefer - but just remember than every pound of muscle kept is another pound of muscle you don’t have to regain!
