Thursday, August 18, 2022, at approximately 2:30 am, Rochester Fire Department was called to 156 Brighton Avenue in Rochester Borough for a commercial structural fire. Upon arriving on the scene, command reported a two-story commercial building with heavy fire. As additional crews arrived, they reported heavy fire in the adjacent structure.
Three firefighters were injured from a hose separating. They were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Tankers/Tenders were brought in to supplement the city water supply taxed by the massive fire.
Crews remained on scene most of the day, working to place the building in a safe condition and cool down hot spots.
Unmanned Response provided drone support for this incident. Here is a video from that fire.

In 1978, an unlikely cadre of EMTs pulled together to launch the Beaver County Paramedic Service. Our role models were John Gage and Roy DeSoto from the TV show 'Emergency.' The actors - Randy Mantooth and Kevin Tighe - are now producing 'Into the Unknown,' a timely and long-overdue exploration of the critical role of paramedics in society. Kudos to the excellent team behind the production, including our longtime friend and EMS law pioneer Steve Wirth. Check out their website and sign on for updates.

Whatever Paramedics encounter on their calls, invariably those memories are taken home with them. As the saying goes “You can’t un-see what you’ve seen” How do you compartmentalize those thoughts? Where do you store those memories? This is what Paramedics face 24/7 – 365, and it takes a to...

The 911 Saves Act (S.1175), which would classify dispatchers as "protective service" instead of "office support", is festering in a Senate committee. Every member of Congress... every elected official... needs to hear Dispatcher Keith Thornton orchestrate the response to the murder of Chicago Police Officer Ella Fench. It's time to recognize that 911 dispatchers are "essential workers" and "first responders".

All, Another terrible weekend in Chicago. This time a Police Officer was murdered and another (who survived) was shot in the face. If you haven't had time to listen to the radio traffic that horrible shooting that resulted in the murder of Chicago Police Officer Ella Fench, and serious injuries…

Communities and public safety agencies are beginning to appreciate the value of drones. They are amazing tools that help first responders save lives.

Search and rescue drones are incredibly effective at finding missing persons. Two examples from this week showcase just that.

Parade to Give “HUG” to Beaver County Family
by Beaver County Events

Charity Riders will lead a parade of motorcycles, first responders, and others through the streets of Vanport for 12-year-old Giana Berardi at 1:00pm on Sunday, May 3, 2020. Giana was born with Lissencephaly, a rare brain disorder that affects growth and has no cure. Giana is in the care of hospice but will be watching the parade with her family.

The event was organized by Charity Riders, a Beaver County based 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides support to families with sick or disabled children. Club member Eric “Mayhem” Smith wanted to do something special for Giana and her family, who have been in home quarantine due to the global coronavirus pandemic. As word spread on social media among first responders and others, the motorcycle ride quickly grew into a parade.

If you wish to participate in the parade for Giana, please report to Eaton Corporation parking lot adjacent to Georgetown Lane (behind McDonalds and the Beaver Cemetery) no later than 12:30 PM on Sunday, May 3, 2020. Additional Instructions will be provided at that time. Participants are encouraged to decorate their vehicle with a message of love for Giana and her family.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help Giana and her family and anyone that can is asked to contribute here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/prayers-for-giana . The effort has raised almost $9,000 and been shared nearly 4,000 times.

Beaver County Events will be provide updates at www.beavercountyevents.com and their social media.

Unmanned Response and Innovative Aerial Solutions, local drone services companies that work closely with local first responders, will provide live video of the parade on the Unmanned Response page - https://www.facebook.com/UnmannedResponseLLC.
