SP 26 FEDERAL LEAGUE:
FLAT TIRE PUMPS THE BRAKES ON CBK TO WIN TITLE.
The Flat Tire Hockey Club swept the Comeback Kids to earn their first Federal League title and their first title of any kinds since the Fall 24 Patriot league championship.
The Tire took down the Kids 6-3 in game one and shutout their rivals 4-0 in game two. Greg Rosenberger scored the hat trick in game one and added a tally in game two. Rosenberger also notched a four spot in the semifinal matchup with the Archers.
Flat Tire was just as impressive in the regular season, earning the 1 seed with a 9-1-2 record. CBK was 8-3-1 and tied with the Abominable Snowmen for the 2nd place, losing out on the higher seed due to tiebreakers.
CBK narrowly escaped the lowly Bomber OG squad with a 2-1 quarterfinal win. They followed that up with a commanding 7-2 victory over the Snowmen to reach the finals.
Flat Tire had a first round bye and the time off didn't hurt them. Their 6-4 win over the tricky Archers propelled them to the finals matchup.
Jason Brooks proudly picked up the historic Le Coupe de Federale after the clocked wound down. Flat Tire is itself an historic franchise that has been a little lighter in titles than one would expect. But that changed this past season and the future looks bright for the Tire.

PIONEER SP 26:
ICEMEN SHOOT DOWN BOMBERS
In dramatic fashion the Icemen defeated the Bombers in game 2 of the Sp 26 Pioneer league finals. The Bombers, were down 2-1 in games and 2 goals in period three of game two. Bomber forward Mark Bochner scored twice on one shift late in the third to tie the game at 3. All of a sudden the Bomb squad was back in business. The Icemen are the top seed after all and they were unphased by the momentum shift. With their focus still on the prize, the Icemen pinned the Bombers down in their own end as time wound down. A rebound off Bomber netminder Mike Harney bounced out to Icemen sniper Anthony Triano who put the puck in the net off the post to score the game and series winner with 7.4 seconds remaining.
The finals battle was an unlikely matchup. The Icemen seemed destined to reach the end as the one seed but the Bombers, last in the division were a surprise. The Bombers took down the 2nd seeded Red Barons handily by a 4-1 score. They then defeated the powerful Stingrays 3-1. Drew Campbell got the late third period game winner in that game.
The Icemen had a first round bye and and punched their finals ticket by taking down the ever difficult Minotaur, 5-4 in the semis. Icemen forward Pindyck had 5 goals in the tournament and his team utilized a balanced attack with 8 different skaters notching goals.

FRONTIER SPRING 2026:
DELUCIAS ADD ANOTHER FRONTIER TITLE
The Fightin' Delucias have rolled off 5 consecutive championships, their latest the Spring 26 Frontier League Crown. That's two Frontier titles preceded by three Pioneer League championships. The Delucias, Phantoms and Flying Dutchmen competed in the Frontier League playoffs after the interdivisional Frontier/Pioneer regular season.
The Phantoms earned the top seed and awaited the Delucias vs Dutchmen winner. A hat trick by Dante Sena led the way for the Delucias who took down the Dutchmen by a 5-3 score.
Sammy Martz was the game one standout for the Delucias who took game one of the finals with ease, winning 7-2. Martz had the hattrick in the victory.
The Phantoms pushed back hard in game 2 and made the game difficult for the defending champions. Nick Bucci and Phil Meade had one goal each for the Phantoms and Brian Cuelho netted two more but it wasn't enough. The Delucias countered with goals from James Couselli, Nick Emmons, Nick Mastropaulo and a trio of scores from Jack Spitzer. After the horn sounded the Fightin' Delucias were up 6-4 and 2 games to none which all pointed to their 2nd straight Frontier league championship and their fifth consecutive title.

SPRING 26 PATRIOT:
BIOHAZARDS WIN THE PATRIOT IN STYLE
The Biohazards technically went from worst to first in the Patriot League finishing the regular season in the basement and ultimately claiming the 5 Crown Jug.
But the standings were a bit deceptive as three teams in the 4 team league were tied at top with 14 points and the Biohazards had 10. If their two OT losses were regulation wins they could have found themselves as the top seed.
In the semifinals, Sean Feeney scored twice and added an assist to help the Biohazards take down the top seed Children of Doom. Goalie Matt Rovetto held the Doom to just a pair of goals in the 5-2 win.
In the finals the Biohazards would face the Terrapin. For their part the Terrapin took out the venerable Ooff. Terrapin winger Dave Smith scored twice in that contest.
With the best of 3 final matchup set, the Biohazards were focused to return to the podium. There last Patriot League crown was two seasons ago in the Summer 25 campaign. Game one was a back and forth, double OT thriller. Sean Feeney again was the hero, scoring the OT winner, his second tally of the game.
The hero for game two was goaltender Matt Rovetto who earned a shutout in the clinching game two win. Feeney had his third 2 goal performance of the playoffs, earning MVP honors. JP Salvesen, Achilles Alon, John Lattanzio and Mike Carulli also netted playoff goals for the Champion Biohazards.

QUARRY LEAGUE:
GBB GETS OUT OF SLUMP
The Green Brook Berets have racked of 3 consecutive wins after suffering an early season 5 game losing streak. Their record of 4-5 has them tied for fourth in the competitive Quarry League. Next up for the Berets is a Sunday matchup vs the Pterodactyls.

MORALE SITLL HIGH DESPITE BOMBER OG WINLESS RECORD
The Bomber Hockey Club fielded two teams this season. They hold their normal position within the Pioneer league but this season the franchise put together the OG. This collection of skaters leans heavily on "experience" as opposed to speed with two 60+ years old's and others approaching the milestone. While the club has yet to earn a W, the locker room is still fresh with stories from the clubs 33 year history. That's what is great about this sport, especially in the beer league days. It's not all about the W's.

SHAMROCKS YET TO LOSE IN REGULATION
The Quarry League leading Shamrocks sport a 4-0-1 record to start the SP 36 season. Three consecutive 3-2 scores, two being wins and the other an OT loss netted the Shamrocks 5 of a possible 6 points to start the season. The Shamrocks face off against the always tricky Green Brook Berets in another installment of the Battle of the Green Sweaters.

BIOHAZARDS AND OOFF TOPS IN PAT-SO FAR
The Biohazards and the OOFF hold identical 3-1 records in the early goings of the Patriot league slate of games. The Biohazards only loss was to the OOFF and OOFF's only loss was to the Biohazards. So they are preying on the Terrapin and the Children of Doom in the early goings. Both the Terrapin and Doom play the top teams well and its not a sure bet that the standings will hold throughout the season. Get ready for a topsy turvy season in the Spring Patriot league.
