⚽️ BYSA Fall Recreation Jewelry Policy

As we get ready for the Fall Recreation season, we want to remind all BYSA families about an important player-safety rule:

🚫 Jewelry must be removed before players participate in games or practices.

This includes earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, and other body jewelry.

👂 A special reminder about earrings

Earrings must be removed. Taping over earrings is not an acceptable alternative. If earrings cannot be removed, the player will not be able to participate until they are removed.

We understand that this can be especially important to plan for with newly pierced ears, so please keep the policy in mind when considering the timing of piercings.

These requirements follow the player-safety standards used by IFAB, Massachusetts Youth Soccer, and U.S. Soccer.

❤️ Our goal is simple: keep every player safe while making sure everyone gets to enjoy the game.

Parents, please check your player for jewelry before heading to the field. When in doubt, take it out!

LAST CALL FOR JUNIOR REFEREES!!!

We are continuing our very popular Junior Referee Program for the 2026 Fall Recreation season. Please let us know if your child is interested in becoming/returning as a Junior or is a licensed referee for this fall by emailing the Fall Referee Coordinator, Chris Chaves. Right now we have a few people that have already responded and we need many more. The Jr Referee meeting will be held on:
Monday September 7, 2026 from 6pm.- 7:00 pm at the BYSA soccer fields. If inclement weather, we will move the meeting indoors to the soccer house.

1. Grade 1/2 (U8) – No license required
2. Grade 3/4 (U10) and above – License/Certification Required

To answer a few of the questions:
Grade 1/2 (u8) Junior Referees:
• Must be at least 12 and at least in 7th grade.
• We will go over everything they need to know the night of the meeting.
• This is a great way for them to get their feet wet and see if they would like to pursue refereeing down the road and become licensed.
• The games are only on Saturdays in the 9:00, 10:30, 12:00, or 1:30 time slot.
• As we get closer to the meeting and the first week, we will reach out and start assigning games.
• We will email you near the beginning/middle of the week and just need you to confirm that your child can or cannot do the game assigned to them that week.
• Priority will be given to those currently enrolled in our Fall Program.

Grade 3/4 (u10) and above:
• Must be certified New Grassroots Referee- Entry Level
• Must be 14+ years of age
• Certification information can be found on www.massref.net.
Again, BYSA will provide your whistle and everything else for you.

⚽ 2026-27 BYSA Travel Head Coach Applications Are Now Open! ⚽

Do you love soccer and want to make a difference in the experience of our players? BYSA is now accepting applications for Travel Program Head Coaches for the upcoming 2026-27 season!

We welcome returning coaches, experienced coaches, and those interested in becoming a coach for the first time. You don’t need to have coached travel soccer before—just a willingness to learn, lead, and help our players grow.

Our Board of Directors is actively working to improve the BYSA Travel program for next season, with more details about the 2026-27 season coming soon.
