It’s hard to put into words what Josh meant to our Sozo family.
For the past 5½ years, Josh wasn’t just a member—he was part of the heart of this gym. He showed up, worked hard, laughed often, and made this place better simply by being here.
If you knew Josh, you knew how much he loved the Passion workout. He looked forward to it every single year. Although he wasn’t able to do the workout this year, he was still there with us, cheering everyone on until the very end. Josh loved toes-to-bar… but if there was one thing he definitely didn’t love, it was the Echo bike. Even in the last few weeks of his illness, he said, “I wouldn’t care if I never saw that bike again!”
The guys were always finding new movements, new tricks, or some challenge to throw his way just to see if they could get a reaction. They picked on him constantly—but it was because they loved him. And Josh gave it right back with that contagious smile and incredible sense of humor. He fit right in, and those moments of joking around, laughing, and pushing each other are memories we’ll always hold onto.
What made Josh so special wasn’t just his work ethic or his toughness—though he had plenty of both. It was his heart. He had one of the sweetest spirits you’ll ever meet. He was kind, genuine, encouraging, and the kind of person who made everyone around him feel like a friend. He truly loved life, and his joy was contagious.
Josh fought with incredible courage until the very end. He showed us what resilience looks like. Even when life became unimaginably hard, he continued to face each day with strength, faith, and determination.
Our gym won’t feel the same without hearing your laugh, seeing your smile, or watching everyone give you a hard time. The empty space you leave behind is a reflection of how deeply you were loved.
Thank you, Josh, for every workout, every laugh, every conversation, and every memory. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey and for becoming such an important part of ours.
We know you’re no longer in pain, and we find comfort in knowing you’re finally at peace.
You’ll ALWAYS be a part of Sozo.
We love you. We miss you. We will never forget you❤️
