Ski in Ski out backcountry skiing & yurt lodging. In Europe, hundreds of huts hang from
mountainsides, and many have been in use for over a century.

The “ski in ski out” Hut and Snowcat concept was developed from the passion of skiing and to establish safe and affordable overnight hut lodging on the “East Side”. For many years the world over, mountain huts have sheltered backcountry travelers such as skiers and mountaineers. wcat has been working diligently with the Humboldt Toiyabe National Forest to establish a Special Use Permit for commercial operation. Mission

Provide a welcome alternative to the traditional ski resort, by providing backcountry ski enthusiast access to remote high sierra skiing, over-night backcountry accommodations, safe transportation, and exceptional service without the lift lines and tracked up powder.

Our social media intern (aka my teenage neighbor or anyone we meet under 18) suggested we post something about “hard posting” or 6–7. Honestly, we’ll stick to shredding powder.

Huge thanks to everyone who’s come out so far — what an incredible way to open the season with new faces and returning guests. Massive shoutout to the Eastern Sierra community for getting us open: powering through outages, delivering a cold beer (), serving up killer burgers and warm beds (), clearing roads (), keeping fuel flowing — the North End of Mono County really sticks together when it gets Western.
