Cross-country announcement Bangor Meet
9/28/23
Thursday was a picture-perfect day for cross country, and the BCS teams traveled to Bangor to compete against several of the best teams in the league. Brewer finished in third place in both the boys’ and girls’ races, but those results don’t accurately represent how well Brewer ran on the 1.85-mile course.
In the boys’ race, Slade Boyington and Ian Thayer went right to the front and battled against the lead runners from the Cohen School and Penobscot Christian School. Slade almost won the race, finishing in 2nd only a few seconds away from the win and running the second fastest time ever run by a Brewer runner on the course. Ian also ran a great race, finishing in 7th place, just outside of Brewer’s all-time top 10. Rounding out the scoring for Brewer were Payton Levesque in 15th, Trysten Roy in 18th, and Jack Fraser in 19th.
The BCS girls were lead by Sara Simsay’s hard-fought 9th place, in which she ran by far her fastest pace of the year. Brewer’s team score was completed by Cadance Levesque in 12th, Julia Rose in 20, Ashly Marsh in 24th, and Stella Smith in 27th.
As I have already mentioned, the team places don’t accurately represent how well BCS ran. In cross country, running a faster pace is always the number one goal, and almost the entire team did just that. Improving on their paces by a fair amount were Sonny Barbeau, Cody Berry, Apsara Bobby, Riddick Boyington, J.B. Burditt, Carolyn Cashman, Janvi Deshpande, Jacob Grant, Malakai Hager, Surteerth Handral, Caydance Levesque, Payton Levesque, Ashlyn Marsh, Michael McGinn, Naomi Robichaud, Julia Rose, Trysten Roy, Stella Smith, Ian Thayer, Kayden Tracy, and Ansley Uhlenhake. Improving their paces by the impressive amount of almost 1 minute per mile were Braden Allen, Slade Boyington, Jeremiah Bush, Aiden Gonzales, Leah Guillette, Keyzli McAfee, Oliver Moon, Sara Simsay, Autumn Thayer, and Blake Woods. Crushing her old pace with a improvement of almost 3 minutes per mile was star of the meet, Daniella Arambambi.
