A celebration of gratitude, labor, and intention this Lughnasadh season

As the sun shines brightly on this Lughnasadh, I find myself reflecting on the essence of this beautiful pagan holiday. Today is all about honoring the Celtic god Lugh, a master craftsman, and acknowledging the hard work we put into the land during this fruitful time of year.

Lughnasadh is a reminder of the toil that goes into our gardens and farms. For many of us, this season means heavy labor, but it’s also about gratitude. Whether you're harvesting crops or simply enjoying the bounty of nature, Lughnasadh encourages us to appreciate the fruits of our labor. It’s in these acts that we find our connection to the earth.

This year, I decided to create a dirt candle as my offering for Lughnasadh. I gathered herbs, flowers, and even some dirt from my yard, pouring wax into a divot filled with these natural treasures. The unexpected find of a small bird skull and a snail shell reminded me of the interconnectedness of life and the gratitude we owe to the land.

As I prepared to light this candle, I wanted to share a poem that resonates with the spirit of this day, titled *A New Day Leading with Intention* by Vicki Flaherty
This poem encourages us to embrace change and reflect on our intentions, guiding us like a North Star.

As we celebrate Lughnasadh, let's honor the labor we contribute and the gratitude we feel for the land.
