for 2025–26 Season
Bremerton, WA — The Bremerton Sockeyes have been recognized by The Hockey Review as one of the most improved teams in the USPHL Premier for the 2025–26 season, following a remarkable turnaround that has put the league on notice.

The Sockeyes improved their win percentage from 15.9% in 2024–25 to 50% in 2025–26, marking a +34.1% increase — the largest jump among the top three teams highlighted.
This achievement comes in just the second season of the franchise and the first season under Head Coach & General Manager Chad Olson, signaling a powerful shift in culture, competitiveness, and player development.

The Bremerton Sockeyes Hockey Club today announced an exciting evolution of the organization’s identity, officially rebranding as the Bremerton Yard Birds.

This bold new direction reflects the club’s deep connection to Bremerton’s shipyard heritage, blue-collar grit, and relentless work ethic. The “Yard Birds” name pays tribute to the hardworking roots of the community while embracing a fierce, competitive spirit on the ice.

As part of the rebrand, the organization will introduce a new visual identity featuring a powerful pelican-inspired logo, along with redesigned home, away, and alternate uniforms in a striking navy blue and purple color scheme. The new look symbolizes strength, resilience, and a new era of hockey in Bremerton.

Bremerton Sockeyes Thank Fans, Players, Billets, and Volunteers Following Historic Season

As the 2025–2026 season comes to a close, the Bremerton Sockeyes organization would like to extend a sincere thank you to the fans, players, billet families, and volunteers who helped make this season a major step forward for the program.

The Sockeyes saw tremendous growth on the ice this year, improving from 6 wins last season to 22 wins this year, a reflection of the hard work, dedication, and culture the team built throughout the season. The progress also led to a playoff appearance, marking an important milestone for the franchise.

Inside the Bremerton Ice Center, the support from the Kitsap community created a special atmosphere all season long. With crowds averaging around 300 fans per game, the energy from the stands helped push the team during key moments throughout the season.

The organization would also like to recognize the incredible billet families who opened their homes to players throughout the season. Billets play a vital role in junior hockey by providing a supportive environment that allows players to focus on development both on and off the ice.

“Our billet families are the backbone of our program,” said Head Coach and General Manager Chad Olson. “They welcome our players as part of their families, and that support makes a huge difference in the lives of these young athletes.”

The Sockeyes also thank the many volunteers who helped run game nights, community events, and behind-the-scenes operations. Their dedication helped create a professional and welcoming experience for players, families, and fans all season long.

Olson also made sure to recognize the commitment of the players who helped drive the team’s turnaround this year.

“I want to thank our players for the work they put in every single day this season,” Olson said. “They believed in the vision we set for this program and committed themselves to building something bigger than themselves. The growth we saw this year came from their effort, their trust in the process, and the culture they helped create inside our locker room.”

Player advancement remains a core mission of the Sockeyes organization, and the team is excited to share that several college commitment announcements will be coming soon
as players take the next step in their hockey and academic careers.

Bremerton Sockeyes Set for First-Ever Playoff Game Against Rival Seattle Totems.

The Bremerton Sockeyes will make franchise history this weekend as they take the ice for their first-ever playoff game, opening the postseason on the road against longtime rival Seattle Totems at Olympic View Arena in Mountlake Terrace.

The matchup sets the stage for a true Battle of Washington, as two familiar rivals meet with playoff stakes for the first time. After a season of steady growth and strong fan support, the Sockeyes now take the next step in their program’s development with a chance to compete on the postseason stage.

“This is a big moment for our organization,” said Sockeyes Head Coach and General Manager Chad Olson. “Our players, staff, and fans have all been building toward this. Making the playoffs is an important step, but we know there is still more work to do.”

The series begins this Friday at 7:30 PM at Olympic View Arena, with the Sockeyes looking to carry their momentum into a high-energy rivalry matchup.

Fans looking to support the team on the road still have an opportunity to travel with the Sockeyes. Bus sign-ups for fans are currently open, with pickup at the Edmonds Ferry Terminal before the game and transportation directly to Olympic View Arena. A limited number of seats remain available.

The Bremerton Sockeyes are excited to offer fans an opportunity to travel together and support the team during the first round of away playoffs at Olympic View Arena.

Fans are encouraged to take the 6:10 PM ferry departing Kingston to Edmonds, where the Sockeyes team bus will be waiting to provide transportation to the game free of charge!

The bus will pick up fans at the Edmonds Ferry Terminal at 7:00 PM and transport them directly to Olympic View Arena. Following the game, the bus will return fans to the Edmonds Ferry Terminal for postgame departure.

This coordinated travel experience allows Sockeyes supporters to bring energy on the road and create a strong presence in enemy territory as the team begins its playoff run.

“We want to make it easy for our fans to be part of this playoff push,” said team staff. “There’s nothing better than seeing our supporters show up loud and proud on the road.”

This achievement represents the first playoff appearance in franchise history and the first time since 2017 that a junior hockey team from the area has qualified for postseason play.
The accomplishment is made even more significant by the program’s rapid growth.
Just one season ago, the Sockeyes recorded seven wins, making this year’s playoff qualification a clear reflection of the progress and foundation being built within the organization.

The team has also drawn strong support from the community, averaging approximately 300 fans per home game at Bremerton Ice Center.
The milestone comes as the Sockeyes prepare for a demanding 20-hour road trip to Cedar City, Utah this weekend. The journey highlights the resilience and commitment that have defined the team throughout the season, both on and off the ice.

In the first round of the playoffs, Bremerton will face their Northwest Division rival, the Seattle Totems — a familiar and spirited matchup that promises intensity and passion from puck drop.

Bremerton Sockeyes Announce Hiring of Mental Strength Coach Marc Rosenberg, LMFT, BCBA

Bremerton, WA — The Bremerton Sockeyes are proud to announce the addition of Marc Rosenberg, LMFT, BCBA as the organization’s new Mental Strength Coach, further strengthening the team’s commitment to total player development both on and off the ice.

Rosenberg brings a unique and powerful blend of clinical expertise and performance-focused coaching. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), he specializes in mental resilience, emotional regulation, focus under pressure, confidence building, and performance consistency — all critical tools for athletes competing at the junior hockey level.

“Junior hockey is as much a mental game as it is physical,” said the Sockeyes coaching staff. “Marc’s background gives our players access to elite-level mental skills training that will help them manage pressure, bounce back from adversity, and perform at their best when it matters most.”

In his role, Rosenberg will work directly with players and staff, providing individual and group sessions focused on mental toughness, goal setting, stress management, and leadership development. His addition reinforces the Sockeyes’ philosophy of developing well-rounded athletes prepared for the next level of hockey and life beyond the rink.
