Congratulations to Central wrestler, Matthew Walsh, who traveled to Chicago this weekend and was honored with the Ken Gerdes III Memorial Leadership Award through the IWCOA. Matthew was recognized for his outstanding leadership in helping guide Central’s pilot wrestling program into a fully established sport. Matthew received the award from Mr. Gerdes’ mother during the IWCOA Awards Banquet. We are proud to see his leadership and accomplishments recognized in such a special way. Go Cougars!

Great day for our wrestlers at the 2026 SIRTC Spring Smackdown tournament in Edwardsville today! This was an awesome opportunity to get valuable mat time, build experience, and keep improving in the off-season.
Abi Haller led the way with a 3rd place 🥉finish in freestyle and a 2nd 🥈in folkstyle. Kara Hart, Michell Toennies, and Eli Barks all battled hard and came away with 4th place finishes in folkstyle, gaining important experience against tough competition.
Work in the off-season gets your arm raised in the in-season. Proud of the effort, attitude, and growth from this group. 💪 Way to go!
