The Community Leadership Award was presented to our fearless leader Gene L. Dayton.

The Town of Breckenridge Community Leadership Award.

Congrats to Gene, this beautiful award was created by local Glassblower John Hudnut of Gatherhouse!

It recognizes individuals who have made outstanding, long-term contributions to the community.

Recent notable 2026 recipient Gene Dayton is the Founder of the Breckenridge Nordic Center and was offering year round outdoor adventure based activities for disabled through his Ski Touring & Mountaineering School, now known as the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC) celebrating it 50th year. He was recognized for his visionary leadership, outdoor access, and decades of community building.
