Freedom Rally

Freedom Rally 🏁 Make Each Day An Adventure 🏁 Within less than a year, the idea of providing rally racing support for the largest international rally race in the world.

Freedom Rally Racing started off as a dreamy idea sparked by the passion for off-road endurance riding and a first attempt at the Dakar in 2011. Freedom Rally Racing made its entrance into the 2012 Dakar supporting three riders, representing three different countries. The first team also included three mechanics and a photojournalist, who followed the team to document their journey. The building o

f the team support truck is key to the success of Freedom Rally Racing. This highly modified and organized truck (as pictured on the right) holds all of the necessary parts, tools, tires and equipment needed to fix any potential problem the team would encounter. While many riders rent space from trucks at the race to hold their equipment, our team provides each racer with the room to store their items and support them mechanically in their desire to finish the Dakar. Supporting three riders again in the 2013 Dakar proved to be highly successful as all three Freedom Rally Racing riders completed the endurance rally. These riders included Marco Saldarriaga and Mateo Moreno of Colombia, and Luis Belaustegui of the US. Belaustegui set a Dakar record by completing the Dakar on the smallest bike ever recorded in the history of the rally (a KTM 150-cc, 2-stroke). Saldarriaga and Moreno also set records being two of the first Colombians to ever finish the Dakar Rally. Freedom Rally Racing is fully committed to providing race support, motorbike building and quad building for international and domestic off-road rallies for years to come. In addition to the international exposure of the Dakar, Freedom Rally Racing shares it’s passion domestically through the use of websites, blogs, Facebook, Crating and Uncrating Events, Dakar Bike Demo Rides and well as Q&A Sessions with local riding organizations such as Adventure and Dual Sport riding clubs.

Sonora Rally 2025 is in the books — and what a week it was.

For me, rally is so much more than motorcycles or epic landscapes. It’s about the unexplainable human dynamic—people doing battle together. Fatigued, excited, challenged. Rally demands that we shift gears, face adversity head-on, and find strength in one another.

Coming into this event, I didn’t even know if I’d make it—still grappling with immense personal loss. But when one of us stumbles, good men step up. They carry their brothers forward—not for recognition, but because it’s right. What we built this week together is spiritual in many ways. Try explaining that to someone who hasn’t lived it. Some things are simply beyond words… because they’re bigger than us.

Thank you to Darren and Erin-Lee Skilton and the entire team of volunteers The Sonora Rally for your tireless commitment to the sport of rally. What you’ve built here is more than a race—it’s a platform where people find purpose, connection, and growth.

And now—
A huge thank you to our riders and crew.

Carr & Carr – Cherish this moment. Ramsey, you may very well be the youngest finisher of the Sonora Rally—and what an incredible ride. Wes, you’re not just raising a rider, but a man of driven purpose.

Sanchez & Enzo – Our other father/son duo. Julian, congrats on the Enduro class win and leading the Dakar Dreams competition. Your future in rally is bright, and Dakar’s calling. Enzo—your organization and pit support didn’t go unnoticed. Before the crew could set down their tools, you had them lined up and ready.

Jones – Quiet strength, total animal on course. It was incredible to witness your first podium in rally—3rd in Enduro and 10th overall. So well earned.

Avenant – One of the most dynamic people I’ve ever met. To come off the Dakar Rally to finally put the elusive Sonora finish behind you with a 7th overall—inspiring. I’m beyond grateful for your friendship… and deeply touched by the gift of Jake’s photo and the Dakar sand. It will live proudly in the Kansas Moto Farm hall of fame.

Looney – Thanks for dialing in the bikes and bringing that signature unpredictable edge.

Looney – Support behind the support. Quiet excellence. You've raised the bar.

Epp – You’ve become the emotional anchor of the team. Your presence and passion remind us what this is really all about.

Schipper – You’re becoming the gold standard in American rally support. Calm, steady, detailed. To my knowledge, you’ve brought every rider home in every stage in every rally you've supported—consistent and at the top

Sanchez family – Thank you for gifting me the trophy. It will sit proudly next to Willem’s gift in our Moto Farm hall of fame, and serve as the backdrop for many stories in the years to come.

To all of you—thank you. You showed up. You carried each other. You carried me. And you built something lasting.

Until next time—
With deep gratitude,
FRR

Sonora Rally 2025 is in the books! 🏁🇲🇽

What a week it’s been in the desert — and Freedom Rally Racing (FRR) is proud to celebrate some incredible results from an exceptional team of riders.

🏆 Julian Sanchez (Argentina) takes the top prize in the Enduro Class and is a strong contender for the coveted Dakar Dreams entry to the upcoming Dakar Rally.

🥉 Gareth Jones (BC) brings home 3rd in Enduro Class and 10th overall — an outstanding performance across the board.

🥇 Willem Avenant, a recent Dakar finisher who had been previously eluded by a Sonora finish, now carries home a 7th place overall result for 2025 — well-earned and long-awaited!

🏅 Ramsey Carr, part of our father-son duo with Wes, secured an impressive 4th place in the Enduro Class, continuing his rapid rise in the rally world.

A massive congratulations to the entire FRR team — and to the dedicated support crew who made these achievements possible behind the scenes.

We are honored to serve the rally community and look forward to what’s next. See you at the next one! 🔧🏍️🔥

Busy times here in the bivouac at Puerto Peñasco as the 2025 Sonora Rally enters its final stretch.

Riders rolled out this morning for the much-anticipated Marathon Stage 4, an unsupported overnight challenge that takes them deep into the desert — camping at a remote location with no outside assistance. They'll return tomorrow for Stage 5, the final leg back to Puerto Peñasco.

Freedom Rally Racing (FRR) riders are holding strong across the board:

🏁 Julian Sanchez (Argentina) is leading the Enduro class after Stage 3 and sits at the top of the Dakar Dreams competition, which grants entry to the upcoming Dakar Rally.

🏁 Gareth Jones is right behind in P3, followed by the father-son duo of Ramsey Carr (P5) and Wes Carr (P7).

🏁 Willem Avenant, a recent Dakar finisher, rounds out the team effort in P11 in the Pro class.

The final stage of the 2025 Sonora Rally wraps up tomorrow — stay tuned for the results and a strong finish from the FRR team!

🏁 Gareth Jones – P18 Overall | P4 in Enduro Class
🏁 Ramsey Carr – P20 Overall | P6 in Enduro Class

Up next, Stage 2 takes riders to Bahia de Kino along the coast, venturing into the long-cherished lands of the proud Seri native tribes, as the rally pushes forward toward its ultimate finish in Puerto Peñasco.

Stay tuned for more updates as the rally unfolds!
