Hello all! This weekend Sucker Creek hosted our yearly Old School Shoot and monthly Cowboy Match! We started on Thursday with cowboys and cowgirls bringing any fi****ms that they wanted to shoot (cowboy and modern) we all got to shoot the Mares Leg that Diabla won from the Hillman shoot a few weeks ago! The ladies in particular loved shooting a 9mm rifle!

Friday was the old school shoot! 5 stages that started at the hottest part of the day! Relaxed dress was acceptable! We had 15 cowboys and cowgirls! We shot from a seated position on a barrel horse, had to dig shotgun shells out of a bowl of beans, switched hats to one of Chicas girly hats, reload a round in our rifles and in a pistol (yuck! Not a fan of that!)
The stages were harder and times were longer!

When the smoke cleared Sarge was our top gun and one of only 3 clean shooters! This is especially awesome if you know Sarge and his recent mishap he is doing remarkably well!
Congratulations to him for a great shoot! Congratulations to Hoot Hamilton and Longshot Lillian on their clean matches! Another big congrats to Longshot Lillian for her top cowgirl spot! Riverview Rattler, Card Shark Charlie, Redbeard Bandit and Faygo Kid rounded out the top 5! Dinner was potluck style! Big thank you to all who participated!

Early Saturday morning we had a surprising number of cowboys and cowgirls that showed up! We had 33 shooters. The weather was perfect with just enough cloud cover and a bit of a breeze!

After 5 fast stages one shooter claimed the top gun spot! Congratulations to Deuce Stevens on his spectacular run! He blazed through five stages in 81.5 seconds! He was also one of 7 clean shooters! Congrats to Diabla, Duelin Dylan, River Runner, Riverview Rattler, Rogues Pierre and Split Aces on their clean matches!

Rounding out the top 10: Doc Noper, Sinola Kid, JC Wade, Riverview Rattler, Duelin Dylan, Faygo Kid, Redbeard Bandit, Avalanche Andy and Hoot Hamilton! Congratulations cowboys! Our top lady shooter was Diabla! Congratulations cowgirl! We would also like to shout out a big howdy to some pardners we haven't seen in a bit! Welcome back Digger Dave and Diggerette! Also a big hello and welcome to Stagecoach this was his first shoot at the Creek!

Lunch was pulled pork and chicken with lots of sides! Thank you again to Chica and everyone who brought a dish to pass!

We'll see y'all next month for our regular cowboy match!

Today was a beautiful day for a shoot! We had 10 cowboys and 3 cowgirls brave the heat and the smoke! We shot 5 stages and ended up with 7 clean shooters! More than half of the shooters were clean! Congrats to Diabla, Doc Noper, Dusty Jode, Lainey Mae, Longshot Lillian, Red Beard Bandit and Riverview Rattler on their clean matches!

Congratulations to Riverview Rattler for his 1st place finish. He edged out Doc Noper by .43 seconds! That placed Doc in 2nd, followed by Red Beard Bandit, Avalanche Andy and Card Shark Charlie!

Lunch was served immediately after. Thank you Chica for the delicious tacos and fresh watermelon! We always appreciate a good meal!

Next month's shoot will be our old school shoot and our regular match. Campers may arrive on Wednesday. We will also have an informal precision shoot on Thursday.

Hello cowboys and cowgirls! We've been watching weather reports and air quality reports for our area. We've decided we will be shooting at our normal time tomorrow! It will be a bit warm! We've got plenty of water on ice! Hope to see y'all tomorrow at the Creek!

Hello cowboys and cowgirls! Our June monthly shoot was awesome! We had a bigger turnout than normal at the creek! 16 cowboys and 8 cowgirls showed up early Saturday and we had a great shoot! The rain held off and the weather was wonderful! Riverview Rattler and Black River Bill each ran a posse, thank you to both of them! We welcomed a new lady shooter (Hellfire Heidi).... her and Diabla are going to be trouble together ❤️!

When the smoke cleared....Deuce Stevens was our top shooter with a blazing time of 84.39 seconds! He was followed by Riverview Rattler, Leadfoot Luke, Doc Noper, Speed Stevens, Duelin Dylan, Red Beard Bandit, Hey Sugar, Diabla and Faygo Kid rounding out the top 10. We had 5 clean shooters. Congratulations to Broke N West, Diabla, Hey Sugar, Leadfoot Luke and Longshot Lillian!

Lunch was served after the match. Thank you Diabla for sloppy Joe's, potato salad and banana pudding!

Hello cowboys and cowgirls! It looks like the range is dry and we can shoot this Saturday! Safety briefing at 9:45 and we'll begin shooting at 10:00! Excited to see y'all at the creek! Safe travels and see you soon!

Sadly we are canceling our April shoot as the range is under water and rain predicted all week.
We will welcome everyone back next month 3rd Saturday.

With 2025 soon coming to a close, it is time to take care of some Territorial Governor business! While our goal is to always provide as much time as possible for you to discuss upcoming voting items with your club members, the 2 items up for vote this year were brought up later in the year. Rather than push these items another year, it was unanimously decided that we would go ahead and move forward with getting these items out to the TG Body for a vote.



You will have until December 15th to submit your vote to ensure we have enough time to make the appropriate updates to the Shooters Handbooks by January 1.



Every SASS Club should be represented and is entitled to a single vote. If you represent more than one club, please complete a separate vote for each club.



CAS 2026 TG VOTE – ASAP: 1. Proposal: Any unloaded firearm that falls, regardless of whether it breaks the 170 = SDQ. Remove the verbiage surrounding a gun that “slips and falls”/falls (breaking the 170 v. not breaking the 170). Reasoning: the rule with variables is no longer applicable. The rule dates to when props and staging items were less reliable. 2. Proposal: A cocked revolver re-holstered with unfired round(s) remaining leaving the shooter’s hand = MDQ. This is currently a SDQ (SHB p. 23). Reasoning: A re-holstered revolver with unfired rounds, cocked and released can be incredibly dangerous. CLARIFICATIONS/EDITS NEEDED: 1. SHB p. 14 EXCEPTION: For Buckaroo/Buckarette shooters knockdown targets do not have to go down to count but must be hit. 2. Classic Cowboy Category- add verbiage that zippers are allowed, if hidden from sight. OTHER BUSINESS POLICY ITEMS per SASS: 1. Adding 90+ Category a. Shootist b. Lady Shootist 2. Adding Verbiage to all SASS Sanctioning Contracts: a. All side matches and mini matches must be conducted 100% by SASS rules b. Only officially registered shooters may participate in any shooting activity (no “off the book”/not for score shooters allowed) 3. Adding verbiage to SHB, p. 12 – Participant guidelines SASS Membership is not a right, and SASS reserves the right to revoke a member’s membership. SASS expects all its members to behave honorably and with respect for the sport, its official rules, the SASS organization, and their fellow competitors. Any SASS member that refuses to conduct themselves within SASS rules will face disqualification, removal/banning from the area/range, and revocation of their SASS membership.
