With 2025 soon coming to a close, it is time to take care of some Territorial Governor business! While our goal is to always provide as much time as possible for you to discuss upcoming voting items with your club members, the 2 items up for vote this year were brought up later in the year. Rather than push these items another year, it was unanimously decided that we would go ahead and move forward with getting these items out to the TG Body for a vote.



You will have until December 15th to submit your vote to ensure we have enough time to make the appropriate updates to the Shooters Handbooks by January 1.



Every SASS Club should be represented and is entitled to a single vote. If you represent more than one club, please complete a separate vote for each club.



CAS 2026 TG VOTE – ASAP: 1. Proposal: Any unloaded firearm that falls, regardless of whether it breaks the 170 = SDQ. Remove the verbiage surrounding a gun that “slips and falls”/falls (breaking the 170 v. not breaking the 170). Reasoning: the rule with variables is no longer applicable. The rule dates to when props and staging items were less reliable. 2. Proposal: A cocked revolver re-holstered with unfired round(s) remaining leaving the shooter’s hand = MDQ. This is currently a SDQ (SHB p. 23). Reasoning: A re-holstered revolver with unfired rounds, cocked and released can be incredibly dangerous. CLARIFICATIONS/EDITS NEEDED: 1. SHB p. 14 EXCEPTION: For Buckaroo/Buckarette shooters knockdown targets do not have to go down to count but must be hit. 2. Classic Cowboy Category- add verbiage that zippers are allowed, if hidden from sight. OTHER BUSINESS POLICY ITEMS per SASS: 1. Adding 90+ Category a. Shootist b. Lady Shootist 2. Adding Verbiage to all SASS Sanctioning Contracts: a. All side matches and mini matches must be conducted 100% by SASS rules b. Only officially registered shooters may participate in any shooting activity (no “off the book”/not for score shooters allowed) 3. Adding verbiage to SHB, p. 12 – Participant guidelines SASS Membership is not a right, and SASS reserves the right to revoke a member’s membership. SASS expects all its members to behave honorably and with respect for the sport, its official rules, the SASS organization, and their fellow competitors. Any SASS member that refuses to conduct themselves within SASS rules will face disqualification, removal/banning from the area/range, and revocation of their SASS membership.

Saturday was our last shoot for the 2025 season! A little light rain for the first two stages but the warmer weather made it tolerable! We had 8 cowboys and 3 cowgirls make it to our spooky shoot! Fast stages had us done shooting and eating lunch by 1! Big thanks to Chica for the stew and cornbread. Delicious meal!

Congratulations to Riverview Rattler for his first place win! Followed by Red Beard Bandit, Card Shark Charlie, Crabby Hayes and Black River Bill!

Today was a beautiful day for our regular cowboy match! We had 7 cowboys and 4 cowgirls blaze through 5 fun stages! Not many pictures today because everyone had to work to keep us moving! Big thanks to the t/o's, spotters, score keepers and brass pickers! We had 4 clean shooters, congratulations to Card Shark Charlie, Kid Alfred, Longshot Lillian and Riverview Rattler!

Congratulations to Riverview Rattler on his first place finish! Avalanche Andy, Card Shark Charlie, Hoot Hamilton and Diabla rounded out the top five! Great job cowboys and cowgirl!

After lunch we were treated to sloppy joes, with chips and a pastry assortment! Thank you Chica for the yummy meal!

Our next shoot will be our final shoot for this season! Spooky season is coming up! Hope to see y'all there!

Thank you to all the cowboys, cowgirls and supporters who joined us at the creek this weekend! We had a great time camping, shooting and spending time with y'all! We had campers arrive on Wednesday!

Thursday was a day for our pardners to practice with their cowboy and non cowboy guns. Thursday afternoon we had a marksman shoot. We had five participants. We shot the dueling tree, Texas Star and the tombstone knockdowns followed by 4 shotgun knockdowns then a shotgun knockdown with a bonus flyer. The second part of the marksman shoot was using a 22 pump rifle to shoot 5 shots on each spinner target. Congratulations to Diabla for her first place with a time of 45.96 with no misses and one bonus. Hoot Hamilton was the top cowboy with a time of 58.42.

Day two was the old school shoot. 5 stages were planned. We ended up shooting 3 stages due to the heat! We had 19 shooters! The old school shoot had us lassoing a barrel horse, carrying handcuffs through a stage, digging shotgun shells out of a bag of hulls and rubber chickens, pouring a shot for a soiled dove at the saloon, and lastly we had to shoot a style of shotgun different than what we normally shoot! (Much respect for y'all 97 shooters) I'll be sticking with my double barrel! After a dinner of burgers, brats and lots of potluck stuff a winner was declared! Congratulations to Riverview Rattler for his first place win! Sarge, Wolverine Regulator, Red Beard Bandit and Diabla rounded out the top five! Congrats to the 7 clean shooters! Diabla, Faygo Kid, Longshot Lillian, Outrider Outlaw, Red Beard Bandit, Riverview Rattler and Sarge! We also invited a new shooter into the ranks! Big cowboy welcome to Dusty Scrubs (Steve)!

Day 3 was our regular cowboy match! We had 32 shooters who braved the blazing hot sun! 5 fun stages! When the smoke cleared Wolverine Regulator was our top cowboy! Congratulations on a blazing hot time of 96.23! Doc Noper, Bad River Marty, Sinola Kid, Riverview Rattler, Leadfoot Luke, Sarge, Faygo Kid, Hey Sugar and Ethan Callahan wrapped up the top 10! Congratulations to all of you! We had 12 clean shooters! Compliments to Bad River Marty, Doc Noper, Dusty Jode, Ethan Callahan, Faygo Kid, Flat Water Johnny, Hey Sugar, Leadfoot Luke, Riverview Rattler, Sinola Kid, TNTina and Two Rig A Tony!

A special thank you to Sinola Kid for the hat pin! Perfect addition for my straw hat!

We had pulled pork and fixings for lunch! Also the hottest jalapeños known to man in the pico de gallo (apologies to Eleanor Jewel for discovering this)! Thank you Chica for the great meal!

Thank you to everyone who helped clean up, reset targets, paint and all the other tasks that need done on a multi day match! Much appreciated!

Today we had the honor of hosting the Wolverine Rangers Cowboy Action Shooting annual free shoot. We had 32 shooters. It was great to have enough shooters for two posses. We had cowboys and cowgirls from all over the state and even a former Michigander made it to the match! The weather was overcast and much cooler than the last few shoots! Perfect shooting weather!

We had 7 clean shooters. Congratulations Bad River Marty, Cactus Lawman, Deuce Stevens, Doc Noper, Hey Sugar, Longshot Lillian and Old Doc Potter!

Our top cowboy today was Deuce Stevens who blazed through 5 stages with an overall time of 78.45. JC Wade, Riverview Rattler, Doc Noper, Bad River Marty, Leadfoot Luke, Sinola Kid, Sarge, Hoot Hamilton and Hey Sugar were the top 10 shooters! Congratulations!

We had a delicious meal thanks to Chica and Michele (Chica and Riverview Rattlers nice daughter) haha! Lasagna, tossed salad, dinner rolls and three types of cake! Full bellies for everyone!

After the dust settled and lunch was eaten, we had the annual Wolverine Rangers meeting.

Huge congratulations to Hey Sugar and Sinola Kid for earning the top spots for the most clean matches over the last year. They were awarded really awesome cutting boards/charcuterie boards.

Another congratulations to Sinola Kid for receiving a Regulator badge! This is a huge honor for him and for the Michigan Wolverines.

We hope to see y'all next month for our old school shoot! This is one of my favorite shoots!
We have plenty of room for camping at the range!
