Words can not express the amount of pride we feel in this photo. It took 13 years to make and started when a 10 year old kid who lived behind the gym decided to give Jiu-Jitsu a try.
Its also difficult to convey the rarity of this accomplishment, and in the unique manner in which it was achieved. Let us try anyway...
There are many thousands of Jiu-Jitsu gyms in the United States. Hundreds of thousands of parents enroll their children in these academies and the USA has had many generations to produce elite talent. By and large, we haven't. Our sport is completely dominated by Brazilians. Looking at the the top 100 pound for pound athletes, only 12 Americans make the cut. Almost every other athlete is Brazilian. Nolan is #13 pound for pound and at the top of the heap of his weight class.
After his win, he attributed the factors that lead to his untra successful 2025 as when, "A special coach meets a special athlete." Thats really what it is.
If you come and have your child try a class at Brea Jiu-Jitsu, we dont scream "elite athletics" the way you will find in an elite youth travel baseball or nationally competing dance program. We have demonstrated via our students success that we ARE, but its not the impression you will have. You will only be left with the thought, "Coach Dan is REALLY good with kids."
We didnt accomplish this by homeschooling Nolan and having him train BJJ all day. He came to regular classes every day and had his talent and confidence developed gradually over the years with a single coach. We *retained perspective* consistly worked and built a development arc that peaked at the right time. We have a mentorship model. We have a single voice that works with you and develops your potential...whatever that may be. This is why you should consider signing your child up with us even if you dont have visions of them becoming the next Nolan. We will enrich your child's youth, give them a community, build confidence and be anchored to BJJ that actually scales to elite level if desired.
