The Fitness Industry Has Made Normal People Feel Like Failures
Somewhere along the way, fitness became something most normal people started feeling like they were bad at.
Open social media and you'll see six-packs, transformation photos, marathon finishes, heavy lifts, perfect meal prep, cold plunges, 5 a.m. routines, step counts, macros, supplements, and people seemingly living their entire lives around fitness.
There's nothing wrong with any of those things.
The problem starts when we begin believing that's what being "fit" is supposed to look like.
Because for most people, it doesn't.
Most people aren't training for a bodybuilding show.
They aren't trying to qualify for a major competition.
They don't need to look like a fitness influencer.
They're trying to get through a long workday without feeling exhausted.
They want to carry all the groceries into the house without making three trips.
They want to get down on the floor with their kids or grandkids, and get back up without needing something to hold onto.
They want to climb a flight of stairs without breathing hard.
They want to take a vacation and walk all day without worrying whether their knees, back, or stamina will hold up.
They want to feel confident in their own body.
That counts.
In fact, I'd argue that's what fitness was supposed to be about in the first place.
