The time has come to replace the Ol’ Reliable Wall2Wall 602. She has been a good one with 21 Features (‘24), 32 Features (‘25) and 31 and counting (‘26). 53 Top 10s, 34 Top 5s and 2 Wins. I know it’s down on power but it’s still strong just burns oil. If anyone wants to jump on board for next season as a sponsor, that sponsorship will go directly to the purchase of a new motor. Hoping she will hold on for 2 more races.

Let’s get a lil Gumbo Mud on the tires!

Sometimes, the most important moments at the racetrack aren’t happening on the track at all.

They’re happening in the dirt beside it.

They’re happening behind the fence.

They’re happening in the minutes before the engines fire and in the long stretches of time when we’re simply waiting for someone we love to climb into a race car.

This little girl was at Port City waiting for her daddy to race.

And while the grown-ups were busy with the things that come with race night…

Cars.
Tires.
Setups.
Conversations.
Schedules.
Last-minute preparations.

She was down in the dirt, completely absorbed in her own little world.

A Tonka truck.

A patch of dirt.

A little dress.

And a whole racetrack surrounding her.

And I couldn’t help but stop and photograph it.

Because someday, she probably won’t remember this exact night.

She probably won’t remember what the weather felt like or what was being said around her.

She won’t remember how long she waited for her daddy to race.

But maybe she’ll remember that she grew up around the sound of race cars.

Maybe she’ll remember being at the track.

Maybe she’ll remember that her daddy was always somewhere nearby, chasing something he loved.

And maybe, one day, she’ll look at a photograph like this and realize that she was part of it all along.

That’s one of the things I love most about racing.

We talk so much about the drivers.

The wins.

The losses.

The trophies.

The wrecks.

The checkered flags.

But racing isn’t just the person climbing behind the wheel.

It’s the little girl sitting in the dirt waiting for her daddy.

It’s the mom holding a baby while watching from the fence.

It’s the kids who fall asleep in the hauler.

It’s the siblings growing up together in the pits.

It’s the grandparents who never miss a race.

It’s the families who spend their weekends traveling down highways with a trailer behind them.

It’s the childhoods being built underneath the lights of racetracks.

And sometimes, those are the photographs I want to remember most.

Not the perfect posed photograph.

Not the one where everyone is looking at the camera.

But this.

A little girl.

A Tonka truck.

Dirt underneath her.

A racetrack behind her.

Waiting for Daddy.

Because one day, she won’t be this little anymore.

The dress will be outgrown.

Her little legs will get longer.

Her world will get bigger.

And this ordinary race night will become one of those tiny pieces of childhood that time quietly carries away.

But photographs have a way of refusing to let those moments disappear completely.

That’s why I take them.

Not just to document the race.

But to document the life happening around the race.

Because sometimes the story isn’t who won.

Sometimes the story is who was waiting at the fence.

Sometimes the story is the kid playing in the dirt.

Sometimes the story is a little girl who doesn’t know she’s standing inside a memory she’ll someday wish she could step back into.

And sometimes, the most beautiful part of racing is simply watching a family grow up around it.

🖤 Her View.

I cannot help but think 25 years ago, what the next morning would hold for the United States of America! 9/11/2001 it didn’t matter if you were on the Left or Right side of the aisle, it didn’t matter if you were Black or White, it didn’t matter if you were gay or straight, it just didn’t matter! What mattered was from 9/11/2001 until we grew numb to the pain that US of A endured, we were UNITED!! We wanted answers, we wanted whoever was behind it to be held accountable!! Many innocent people lost their lives for no real reason. I remember hearing the Toby Keith song sometime after that and the hair standing up on the back of my neck and how we all came together and had each others back. Now it seems it’s every man got himself in this crazy world and seems we are more divided than ever here in the USA. What do we do to get back to being United again??? As we remember those Men and Women that lost their lives, try and do something to bring America back together.
