Rustic Creek Outfitters
Rustic Creek Outfitters is a hunting camp established by two “displaced hunters”, one, a Cajun who’d moved to Northeast Missouri and the other, a native who’d been travelling out of state for several years. Stephen, the Cajun, needed to secure year ‘round access and improvement to a piece of land for consistent, reliable buck and gobbler opportunities. I needed a place to
accommodate out of state hunters I’d worked with over the years without over stressing the “home place”. I needed someone who knew the landscape, how the deer were moving, and had already set good stands accordingly. There are some guys who want the “TV Show Hunt”, with the hotel-type lodge, great camera coverage, brand name sponsorship (and the rules that go with it), and the cute little blonde in pink camo serving up a catered meal. We are more like the buddies you’ve hunted with for years “up on Dad’s place”. We are the guys who are sitting in trees long before the sun comes up who come in frozen and soaking wet looking for something hot. We don’t have HER (yet) but can guarantee a bottomless coffee pot and something delicious in the oven! The kitchen is fully stocked and the shower feels great at the end of a good day. The land itself has a little bit of everything – creeks, ponds, bluffs, timber, prairie…everything a nice buck needs. Some of the open fields are planted with clover and rye grass for hay every year and the deer really thrive! We have 8-10 cameras at any given time watching the racks and beards grow, and we see lots of both deer and turkey consistently. Our stands are carefully placed based on the activity of the game. We have box blinds, lock-ons, and ground blinds, to name a few. Safety is our priority, so all our stands are carefully maintained and regularly inspected. We don’t care what you wear or what brand your gear is, and we don’t guarantee you’ll get your name in the B&C Big Game Record or that you’ll be on television, although we WILL take a picture of you and your “Bullwinkle” and put it on the wall! We DO guarantee you’ll have a good time, you’ll have opportunities for some great deer, and that you’ll want to bring your sons and buddies when you come back next year!
