It all started with my grandparents (my dad's parents), both were hobbyist race car drivers in the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) in South Florida before I was even a thought. They drove an MGB in gymkanas (now called Solo/autocross), which also led to my grandpa building a race car based on an MG chassis. When my dad and uncle hit the age to drive, I guess my uncle was bitten by the race bug.

Go back some 40 years ago, living in South Florida, watching my uncle drive a Lola T70 to multiple wins at Road Atlanta and Palm Beach International Raceway. As I grew up I always loved cars, dirtbikes, 3-wheelers, 4-wheelers...all of it! I messed around with go karts for a little bit, but that always felt like a "toy." Sitting around the house in the cold north Georgia weather looking at websites about racing, AGAIN! Thanks to my super supportive wife, I had finally signed myself up for SCCA Drivers School at Roebling Road Raceway near Savannah, GA. I guess you could say it's in my blood.

Well, not the finish we were hoping for.. a little adventure off the track didn’t crash the car, but wasn’t as kind to the oil line. Still had a great time - what an incredible opportunity! Thanks to all the workers and race friends for the help, laughs and great memories. Couldn’t have done it without Butch and Tim (Jennifer Strasser Boarman)!

Gloomy, wet start to the day, but luckily the rain stopped and the track dried for qualifying. TGM finished 3rd in GTA class - great for a track Jay’s never driven before.

It’s turned into a hot, sunny afternoon. Fun watching all the other cars/races, and catch up with other driver friends.

Another qualifying session tomorrow AM, then the race has been moved to 3:15p. ✌️❤️🏁 Bonnie Gomer

Qualifying scheduled for 11a on Saturday, race is 2p on Sunday. Can’t register until later this afternoon, so taking advantage of a beautiful day at the beach 🏝🏁❤️👍 Bonnie Gomer
