Mullen Scores Top Ten in Richert Memorial Opener

Grand Forks, N.D. (Sept. 9, 2025) - Brendan Mullen brought the Knife River Corporation / Simplot No. 11M to Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin last weekend for the two-day 25th annual Jerry Richert Memorial, collecting another top ten as the 2025 campaign winds down.

Mullen started the night with the second quickest time in Group B qualifying with the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprints then proceeded to go from fourth to second in his heat race to qualify for a dash. Mullen started third and finished second to start on the inside of the second row in the 30-lap main event.

Mullen got crossed up at the start of the race and fell back to sixth and was running seventh on each side of the first caution on lap nine. Brendan raced with Kaleb Johnson for position for a few laps before a red for Travis Arenz on lap 18.

Mullen battled with Max Guilford, Christopher Thram, and Jade Hastings in the closing laps to score a ninth-place finish. Mullen missed a transfer spot on night two and starting deep in the B Main on a heavy track that was plagued by rain most of the day, the crew decided to end the weekend early and get ready for Track Championship night Friday at River Cities.

Mullen Ends Huset’s Season with Third Consecutive Top Ten

Grand Forks, N.D. (Sept. 2, 2025) - Brendan Mullen concluded the 2025 season at Huset’s Speedway with another top ten finish since his return to action this month as he continued to show speed in the Knife River Corporation / Simplot No. 11M.

Brendan started the night setting the fastest time of the night of the 24 cars that signed in for action last Friday night at Huset’s Speedway.

“The setup is kind of what we've been doing here the last couple weeks,” Mullen said after setting quick time. “We've had so much speed late in the night. We're trying some different stuff with shocks and stuff like that. We have a brand new Rider power plant under the hood right now. Right after we unboxed it, that thing has been awesome. We've struggled early in the night. We've had feature speed, and even when the Outlaws came North, we struggled to qualify with them, too. But it was nice to get this chunk of the night done and be fast to start.”

Mullen started fourth and finished fourth in his heat race to earn a spot on the frontstretch for the feature re-draw. He got the seven card and started on the inside of the fourth row in the final 25-lap main event of the regular season at Huset’s.

Mullen started the race passing Andy Pake to move into the sixth spot and continued on to nose below Scott Winters in a bid for the final spot inside the top five. Following a red on the 14th lap, Mullen took fifth from Sam Henderson and continued to follow Winters for position.

Another red on lap 17 set up the final restart of the night and Mullen continued to use the top of the track to try and hold on to fifth as he raced Pake and Henderson for position. Henderson eventually won the three-car battle for fifth with Mullen finishing the race in the sixth spot.

Following a rainout Saturday and rain that continued into Sunday, Mullen ran with the World of Outlaws Sunday night at Huset’s. Mullen went out late in qualifying and was buried deep in his heat race, starting and finishing seventh. In the Last Chance Showdown, Mullen started sixth in the race and fell two spots shy of making the show as passing was at a premium due to the rain that fell in the past day-and-a-half, finishing sixth.

This weekend, Mullen and the crew will head south to Cedar Lake Speedway for the annual running of the Jerry Richert Memorial with the IRA Sprints on Friday and Saturday.

Mullen Makes Three Outlaw Shows; Ties Career Best Finish at Huset’s

Grand Forks, N.D. (August 25, 2025) - Brendan Mullen continued the second half of his season in grand fashion last weekend, making three features with the World of Outlaw and concluded his weekend by charging from 18th to fourth, equaling his best career finish, at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota on Sunday night.

Mullen started his week last Tuesday at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Wisconsin making the main event and came home with a 19th place run. Friday night, the Outlaws returned to the Red River Valley and returned to River Cities Speedway on Friday night.

Brendan had to transfer through the Last Chance Showdown but got past Wade Nygaard who was filling in for Weston Olson late in the race to move on to the feature. Brendan finished 22nd on Friday and headed to Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo. Saturday was Mullen’s best Outlaw finish of the week, running 18th at the end of the night.

Mullen’s busy week ended Sunday night at Huset’s Speedway hoping to improve on last week’s seventh place finish after starting 14th. After struggling early on in the night, Mullen started slicing his way through the field in the penultimate main event at the quarter-mile this season.

On a late restart, Mullen made his way into the top five and pulled even with Scott Winters in the final two laps to try and grab his first podium finish at the track. Though Mullen fell just short of that, he did finish fourth, matching his career best finish at Huset’s.

Three nights of action are ahead at Huset’s Speedway starting Friday night with the points championship before two more nights of action with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series.

Mullen Starts Comeback with First Win in Two Years at Greenbush Race Park

Grand Forks, N.D. (August 20, 2025) - Brendan Mullen returned to the seat of the Knife River / Auto Finance Super Center No. 11M last week and scored a win during the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association’s return to Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, MN on Saturday night. Mullen started on the pole and led every lap to break a nearly two-year long drought.

Mullen started his comeback to racing Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND and started 13th in the main event. Mullen had charged as high as fourth as the second half of the 30-lap race began, but a pair of yellows ended his night early.

Despite that, the speed the team built on Friday immediately carried over to Saturday’s event at Greenbush Race Park. Mullen won his heat and re-drew the one pill, giving him the pole position for the 25-lap main event.

Mullen wasted little time asserting dominance up front as he led by a straightaway in the early laps of the race. By the midway point, Mullen continued to lead though traffic slowed him enough to let Jack Croaker close in for the race lead.

Mullen lapped up to sixth, however, in the closing laps and pulled away to score his first feature win in nearly two years.

“This thing was a rocket ship,” Mullen said in victory lane post-race. “I just pulled it flat right around the top, and I felt, just judging on some of the lap cars I was coming up on, like Nick Omdahl and Weston Olson, who've been really fast lately... I figured I was in pretty good shape to kind of just arc it a little bit and three and four and not mess up and slide over that edge and then just kind of make my hay through one and two.”

Mullen continued, “but yeah, the thing was awesome. We've been trying some different stuff with shocks and weight, and some other stuff that's kind of new to me, and it's been fantastic. So far, so I'm excited to keep going with that.”

Mullen continued the comeback Sunday night at Huset’s with a charge through the field, finishing seventh after starting all the way back in 14th. Mullen also came home with a 19th place finish with the World of Outlaws Tuesday night at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Wisconsin.

Look for Mullen to continue his run with the Outlaws this weekend at River Cities and Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, ND.

What a week!!!

Brendan's return featured great speed during his return at River Cities on Friday. Though a hard charger award run fell by the wayside, it set the table for his first win in nearly two years Saturday night during NOSA's return to Greenbush Race Park. Brendan capped off the weekend by charging from 14th to finish 7th at his return to Huset's Speedway Sunday night.
