Sassy took her last walk with Carti and I and is galloping in heaven across rainbow bridges. 🌈

She went very peacefully yesterday (June 5, 2026) and I was the last thing she saw as I held her head.

Carti sniffed the halter asked -am I next- and I told her no we have work to do, you still have purpose and we walked out of the woods together. Carti is out in the big pasture with the support of her barn mates and ready to serve. 💖🐴🫶

Thank you for all the love, stories, laughter and smiles shared for this amazing horse. Sassy changed so many lives with her serene patience and sass. She was a trooper and let me do all kinds of crazy shenanigans- most of which worked!

Sassy has proven that equine facilitated learning is such a vital method for special people with special needs. She will be loved eternally and missed on earth- she rides the stars now #💖🐴🫶🏼

Some horses change lives. Sassy changed 100’s. 🌈🐴.

Since 2019, Sassy has been a partner in equine facilitated sessions, touching the hearts of children, families and individuals with special needs in ways words can never fully explain. She trained alongside the only Mississippi Special Olympics Equine Team to attend the 2022 USA Games and gave every ounce of herself to the people around her.

Sassy, once a blown up barrel horse, found her true purpose loving others. From basketball games and frisbee golf on horseback to trail rides and every wild creative session in between, she showed up with patience, heart and quiet strength. She carried confidence for those who needed it, comforted those who were struggling, and reminded so many people what unconditional partnership looks like.

Now it’s our turn to honor her.

Hey y’all- checking in from Recovery Road. Tuesday will be 4 weeks post surgery and NO pressure on my left foot. Shout outs to all for checking, sharing, reaching out and for your prayers. Grateful and Blessed with community that supports. 🙏🪽😊

People ask me how I am doing? Instead of the cursory “good” or “fine”- I answer as authentically as I can. I am ok and struggling through each day with new experiences and perspectives.

Seeing things through crutches, walkers, scooters and doing everything on one leg (lots of hopscotch!) makes everything from grabbing a cup of coffee to making the bed a Tabata workout. I often think how the right side is gonna be a peach and the left side is gonna be a wrinkled prune 😂😂😂

Surrendering my wants for Gods needs is difficult for this independent get’r done woman. There have been tears, frustration, laughter and love. 💕

Practicing daily what we work on with our horse partners has shed more light on the impact and life changes that are so important for all people. Breathing, giving myself grace, accepting the here,now- all things we practice regularly and horses are so good at doing.

Everyone we are blessed to work with deals with similar struggles each day- the struggle is real.

So this is my choice; choose joy and experience in a new way how important mental, physical and emotional health is. This message is really for me and I hope it blesses you as well. 💕

Perhaps this is what James and Paul mean when counting our trials as joy because we are chosen to impact the world for Christ. James 1:2-4 NIV

I am ok! So are you! We will be ok together in this space. Love you all 🧡🐴

Hey y’all!

The New Year is here and what an exciting time to reflect on priorities, practice gratefulness and accept Gods plan with open hands for the upcoming year.

My heart overflows with the incredible people that surround me. Kids, parents, volunteers, family, owners and of course our horse partners. The absolute BEST. We put ourselves into the miracle business with special angels every day and it’s hard work. Thank you 🫶🏼

As we journey into this season, I am undergoing a complete foot reconstruction that looks like something out of a horror movie. It did not register how critical and extensive this journey is and how WAY outside my wheelhouse it is.

Which means that sessions are suspended during this healing journey. God has me working hard to heal in order to pick up and run the race HE has.

He is doing a thang- uncomfortable? yes- scary? -yes. Trusting God? Absolutely!

Hang in there with me through this time of healing. I am putting everything on the field to come back stronger and level up in this crazy beautiful plan God has. Thank you. Love you. Pray for you and with you.

We don’t bear fruit alone, we remain in Christ and grow (struggle) together. John 15:4-5 NIV. 🧡🐴

Exciting things happened this past Saturday as our three athletes competed for the State Equestrian games for special Olympics here in Mississippi. They competed in equitation and western trail. Our athletes took home gold and silver medals!! 🥇🥈

We are thankful for the opportunity that was given to them!🧡🐴

We had a blast last night at the Joni and Friends Gala!! It was a nice evening we got to spend together! Most importantly it was good to see the impact that Joni and Friends makes and how it affects people across the world!

We love our volunteers and the work they put in to Hearts of Steele. We would not be the family we are without them!🧡
