♥️An Open Heart Doesn’t Have to Be an Unguarded Heart.

Something I heard while listening to a podcast recently and it really stayed with me.

The idea of walking through life with a heart that is open, sensitive, and protected all at the same time.

I think sometimes we confuse being open-hearted with having to let everything in. Every emotion, every opinion, every bit of chaos happening around us.

But perhaps there’s another way.

To remain soft in a world that can feel incredibly hard.

To be compassionate without carrying everyone else’s burdens.

To recognize that boundaries aren’t walls. They’re simply a way of honoring our own peace.

And maybe one of the greatest lessons we learn as we move through life is that we don’t have to become hardened by our experiences to become wiser.

We can still feel deeply.
Still see the beauty.
Still believe in the goodness of people.

And still protect the peace we’ve worked so hard to cultivate.

A soft heart and strong boundaries can absolutely coexist. 💚

And perhaps that’s what real strength looks like.

💁‍♀️ What if two completely opposite feelings could exist at the same time?

I was listening to a podcast with Martha Beck this morning, and something really resonated with me.

The idea that we can allow completely opposing emotions to exist within us at the same time.

We can be excited and terrified.
Grateful and disappointed.
Hopeful and uncertain.
Ready for change and scared to death of it.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about transitions. Those in-between spaces where what once felt familiar doesn’t quite fit anymore, yet what comes next isn’t entirely clear.

And if I’m being vulnerable, that’s exactly where I find myself lately.

Over the past several months, I’ve felt a shift. I can’t quite explain it, but I know something is changing. Some days I feel grounded and hopeful. Other days I’m quietly freaking out, questioning things, and wondering what the heck comes next.

And somehow, both are true.

I think we put so much pressure on ourselves to have life figured out. To feel confident in our decisions and trust the process without questioning it.

But maybe we can feel a little lost and still be moving in the right direction.

What if peace isn’t about resolving all those conflicting emotions, but learning to let them coexist?

No fixing. No forcing. No rushing to figure it all out.

I certainly don’t have all the answers right now. Maybe I don’t need to.

Just learning to be human in this messy, beautiful space of becoming.

And maybe that’s part of the practice too. 🌿

There is still so much good in this world. 🙏❤️

Today, as I stopped to pick up my lunch at a little place that serves those wonderful, home-cooked, sit-down kind of meals, I witnessed something that absolutely warmed my heart.

A lovely couple had purchased meals for two gentlemen who were experiencing homelessness.

The gratitude from these two men was something I’ll never forget. They thanked the couple over and over, smiling from ear to ear, talking about how delicious the food smelled and looked. Their excitement over something so simple was absolutely priceless.

And there I stood, with tears welling up in my eyes. ❤️

As I was leaving, I couldn’t help but stop and thank the couple myself. Thank them for their kindness, their compassion, and for simply being the GOOD that this world so desperately needs more of.

Sometimes we get so caught up in all the negativity around us that we forget just how much goodness is still out there.

Today was a beautiful reminder.

Kindness doesn’t have to be grand to make a difference. Sometimes it’s simply a warm meal, a caring gesture, and making someone feel seen.

And sometimes, just witnessing that kindness is enough to touch another heart, too.

Be the good. There’s always room for more of it. 🌿❤️

🦷 Ohhhhh, the dentist. 😬

Quite possibly one of the scariest places on earth for me! 😂

The sounds. The sensations. ALL OF IT.

And the funny thing? I’ll spend DAYS anticipating the appointment, knowing full well it’s nothing more than a routine cleaning.

Like, seriously?! WHY the anxiety?! 🤦‍♀️

But let me tell you something… the dentist’s chair might just be where I practice the MOST yoga! 🧘‍♀️

The entire time, I’m having a little conversation with myself (silently, of course).

Breathe.

You’re okay.

Relax your shoulders.

Unclench your hands.

Why on earth are your toes gripping for dear life?! 😂

I notice where my body is holding tension, where my mind is wandering, and how quickly I can get caught up in the anticipation of something that hasn’t even happened.

And then I gently bring myself back. Again. And again. And AGAIN.

We say it all the time as yoga teachers… Yoga isn’t just what happens on the mat. It’s a practice for real life.

Well, apparently my real-life yoga studio has a reclining chair, bright lights, and someone holding a dental scraper. 😂

And maybe that’s the beauty of the practice. It’s not about never feeling anxious or uncomfortable. It’s about learning how to meet those moments with a little more awareness, compassion, and breath.

Even when we’d rather be ANYWHERE else.

So now I’m curious… what’s YOUR place? That one place or situation where all your calm goes right out the window and you have to remind yourself to breathe? 🌿
