Rows are a great pain-free exercise for increasing posture, strengthening the posterior chain, and centering the shoulder joint which decreases the risk of future dislocation.

Today I had the pleasure of guiding the players at through a Functional Movement Screen, an extremely effective tool used to identify asymmetries and compensations throughout the 7 foundational movement patterns (Squat, Lunge, Active Straight Leg Raise, etc.) ⁣

The Data retrieved from the assessment will be used to create and implement an effective training program specific to the player’s individual needs as they start the new season. ⁣

The Single Leg Glute Bridge is an excellent exercise for strengthening the posterior chain, relieving lower back pain, and preventing lower body injury πŸ™πŸ½πŸ’ͺ🏽⁣

β€’ Lay on your back with your feet on the ground and arms by your side.⁣

β€’ With clenched fists and one leg bent at 90 degrees, drive your elbows and heel into the ground as you press your hips to the sky. ⁣

β€’ Squeeze your glutes at the top before slowly lowering your body to the ground with control before repeating.⁣

The Safety Bar is a blessing πŸ™πŸ½πŸ’ͺ🏽

I love the back squat, but my shoulders don’t 😭

β€’The Traditional back squat tends to place additional stress on the shoulders due to the externally rotated position they’re in while holding the bar.

β€’ For an athlete participating in a sport that involves frequent shoulder movement (baseball, volleyball, swimming for example), or a guy like me who has a 4mm labrum tear in his left deltoid due to sport related injury, placing excess stress on the shoulder joint may not be the smartest idea.

β€’ With the safety bar, I am able to load a lower-body movement pattern pain- free without placing additional stress on my already busted shoulder! This is a great alternative for anyone looking to strengthen their lower body without sacrificing the integrity of their upper upper body πŸ’ͺ🏽😬

I realize that it can be so easy for me to go from one week to the next working and doing whatever it is that I think I’ve been called to do, which is why I find it so essential to get out and refresh my mind, body, and spirit doing something awesome.

Greatness is in our DNA 🧬

One thing I’ve learned throughout my athletic career and first year of personal training is that we as human beings are incredibly blessed.

It’s just up to us to stay humble.

As products of Creation, we have been given endless potential to positively impact the world around us while chasing our wildest dreams.

At the same time, our human imperfection often presents us with setbacks that can easily cause us to lose courage and direction.

What life has taught me is that like the burn from a good workout, these problems we face are only temporary.
