Former BYS player and referee Corey Smith is running the NYC Marathon ...

Please see his story below:

"This November, I’m running the 2026 NYC Marathon to raise funds for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

My time working alongside the Air Force shaped my pursuit of a mission-driven career and gave me a profound respect for our military and first responders. As many of you know, I recently moved to New York City for graduate school and the next chapter of my career. I can't think of a better way to honor this city and give back to the community than by running this race on the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

Born from the tragedy of that day, Tunnel to Towers steps up for the families who put everything on the line. They provide mortgage-free homes to the families of fallen heroes and build custom, accessible smart homes for severely injured veterans. Beyond housing, they are actively working to eradicate veteran homelessness nationwide and recently launched an initiative to provide full-tuition scholarships for the children of fallen and injured service members.

I’d be incredibly grateful for your donation to help them continue this vital, life-changing work."

With the Braintree Youth Soccer season set to kickoff next Saturday, we had recruited Andy Fleming to make a video (attached below) 3 years ago, which we would ask you to take 2 minutes to watch, regarding a massive problem in youth sports, not just specifically soccer. Unfortunately, even 3 years later, referee abuse continues to be an issue.

As background, Andy Fleming is a lifelong Braintree guy, who came up playing Braintree Youth Soccer at East, continued his career at Archbishop Williams, playing at the NCAA college level, and ultimately coaching Division 1 NCAA college soccer, most recently at Xavier. Additionally, he is a father of a youth athlete, and has the benefit of seeing things from both sidelines. His experience and knowledge is something we should all appreciate, and I am very thankful that he gave up his time to help us out with this endeavor.

As many of you know, watching local, travel and club games, there is a major referee shortage across the country, and Massachusetts is no different. In our organization alone here in Braintree, we had multiple young referees, aged 11-14, and another few referees, aged 14-adult, quit over the last year because of the abuse they take from parents, other spectators, players and coaches, and this simply needs to stop. Obviously, this is not an issue in our Kindergarten and First grade divisions, where the coaches and players work in unison to learn the game and improve their skills, and we love the cheering and admiration of players, coaches and parents. Unfortunately, as our players get older, and progress to 2nd grade, all the way through High School, we see the passion of parents and players alike, and though we appreciate the love of the game, the negativity that can often be thrown in the direction of our referees gets to be too much. With your help, we can make the upcoming 2026 Fall season one to remember, and an amazing experience for everyone involved.

Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you all soon!

Good Afternoon BYS Families,

In addition to our night @ The New England Revolution coming up on September 19, 2026, we have another opportunity for you Boston sports fans to get out and see some local action!

We have partnered with Boston Legacy FC, New England's female professional soccer team for Braintree Youth Soccer Night @ Legacy @ Gillette Stadium on Friday, October 16, 2026 @ 8:00 p.m.! This is the final home regular season game for the Legacy, and is a great opportunity to see the team out on the pitch.

We will not have a private parking lot or an open tailgate, but the plan is for us to buy tickets directly through the Legacy, and for everyone to sit together in a section during the match.

The deal:

$15 tickets for players within Braintree Youth Soccer, and $29 tickets for friends, family, and others.

As part of the deal, all players are eligible for a halftime parade on the field, and if we sell 50/100 tickets, we earn some cool wins:

All youth players: Opportunity to participate in a halftime parade (limited to 500 players per match)

50+ tickets: Boston Legacy FC pinnies for players

100+ tickets: Player appearance on a mutually agreed-upon date

The code is youthsoccerticket to apply at checkout.

Good Evening Everyone,

Thanks for your patience as we finalize teams, uniforms, fields, etc. in anticipation of an amazing Fall 2026 Braintree Youth Soccer recreational season!

Next Thursday night, we have our Annual Coaches Meeting, and we will release team rosters that day...please be patient as coaches will need a few days after that, to get in contact with their teams. As we did last year, TeamSnap will be our primary method of communication for both the league, and within individual teams.

With that said, be on the lookout for TeamSnap invitations for your childrens' teams next Thursday, so you don't miss out on any important information leading into the start of the season on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

Also, a reminder that tickets are still available for the Annual Braintree Youth Soccer Night @ the New England Revolution on Saturday, September 19, 2026 for ONLY $30/ticket! This includes the ticket to the game, parking in a BYS-specific lot and a FREE tailgate with waters, chips and hot dogs provided by BYS!

We look forward to seeing you all back on the pitch in a few weeks, and hope you enjoy the end of your Summer and the start of the school year!
