Thursday at the U.S. Nationals didn't quite go as planned, and it reminded us once again that luck and timing have a lot to do with this crazy thing we call drag racing! In the first round of Super Comp yesterday morning, Bo was .003 and 8.904..... the guy in the other lane woulda had to be dang-near perfect to beat that, right? Well..... Landon Exner was .003, too, and he was a dead-on 8.900 at the stripe. You can't do anything but shake your head and congratulate your opponent on a job well done there.
Bo set his sights on round one of Super Gas, but he had to wait all day because it was the very last category to go down the track. Next to Derek Fitzpatrick, Bo left the starting line with a .026 light, but his opponent was .006. Down at the stripe, Bo's 9.918 wasn't quite enough for Fitzpatrick's 9.919. Another good race, but that win light did not come on for Bo at this year's U.S. Nationals.
It's hard to be down about it when he's got three Super Gas wins at this race (in a row!), but you never want to put your cars on the trailer on Thursday at The Big Go. Just goes to show how luck can turn, good and bad, when there's a dragstrip involved. It's anybody's game out there, and that's what makes it fun!
