🏐 Championship night our Thursday Sand Volleyball was everything we want an MVP league to be.

Phenomenal volleyball across all 4 levels, but even better than the competition were the attitudes. Smiles, kindness, people cheering each other on, and everyone just genuinely having a great time. ❤️

We can’t brag about this group enough. The players are what make a league special, and we’re incredibly fortunate to have such an awesome group of people making Thursday nights what they are.

A tradition unlike any other.

One of the greatest privileges we have is being the first to welcome a new MVP’er and then watching as they create lifelong friendships.

This weekend, a group of MVP’ers took a trip to Key West for an epic weekend together and to celebrate Andrew Johnston’s birthday.

Looking through their photos from the trip, I (Chris) couldn’t help but think back to when I first met each of them and how excited they were to meet new people.

I remember meeting JD Lawson and Marianne Larson Lawson at their first volleyball tournament and how shocked they were that I already knew their names. Samantha Gyeszat joining as a free agent for mini golf. Kristy Gentile coming out for kickball and eventually introducing her friends April Schultheis (mini golf) & Alta Brink (bowling). The first time I met at softball/kickball. Ross Fishman showing up to bowling dressed as Donkey Kong.

I remember Barbara Gordon helping her friend Tammy kick the ball at the Heritage Harbour fields. How excited and fun Harry Raiman Jr was (and still is) on his first night of pickleball. Amanda Woods helping create the awesome vibe that became Smokin Bases. Stephanie H Johnston showing up to co****le unsure of what she had gotten herself into, only to watch her fall in love with all of our shenanigans. ...And, of course, her husband Andrew…who is the king of those shenanigans.

At different times, in different sports, at different fields and venues, they each showed up looking to meet some new people and have some fun.

Years later, they’re taking trips together, celebrating birthdays together, and creating memories that have absolutely nothing to do with MVP.

That’s the coolest part of what we get to do.

The leagues are fun. The games are fun. The ridiculous stuff we do is fun. But knowing that somewhere along the way, people who may have never met otherwise became genuine friends…that’s something I’ll never stop being proud of.
