🍎❄️ TONIGHT!! ICE FEST KICKOFF AT LOCKHORN CIDER ❄️🍎

Ice Fest week officially begins tonight and we’re starting strong. Join us at 6 PM at for an inspiring evening with Austrian alpinist Babsi Vigl, hosted by the American Alpine Club and the Bozeman Ice Festival.

Babsi grew up surrounded by the mountains in Austria. She headed out on her first expedition at age 20 and soon climbed routes in the Dolomites and Chamonix.

Since then, she scaled big walls like El Capitan and the west face of Asan in Kyrgyzstan.

In 2015, she became the first woman to join the Austrian Expedition Team, leading her first expedition in the Himalayas. Together with her friend Simon Messner, Babsi has established several routes in the Dolomites and Tyrol.

In early 2020, Babsi climbed the Cerro Chaltèn as part of an all-women ascent of the Supercanaleta.

After climbing in Patagonia, Babsi combined two passions: alpinism and writing.

In the future, she wants to break new ground and add her voice to the inspiring stories of women alpinists.

Babsi will showcase three different mountains/routes in the Alps, the north and east side of the Grandes Jorasses, the Tre Cime and Monviso. Please join us!

If you want inspiration to kick off Ice Fest week, this is the place to be.

🌟 EMILY WILL BE THERE! 🌟

One week from today, Emily Harrington is coming to the Emerson for a live Q&A, don’t miss your chance to hear directly from one of the top climbers in the world!

Join us Saturday, December 13 at 7:30 PM for Girl Climber, an unfiltered and incredibly powerful look into Emily’s world as she takes on a 24-hour ascent of Yosemite’s El Capitan while navigating ambition, identity, and the realities of pushing limits in a male-dominated sport.

Emily has summited Everest, climbed 8000-meter peaks, dominated competitions, and survived a near-fatal fall… but this film goes deeper. Girl Climber is about grit, resilience, and redefining what’s possible, not as the best “girl climber,” but as one of the best. Period.

After the film, Emily will be on stage for a live Q&A to talk about the climb, the process, the pressure, and the moments that shaped her journey.

We’ll also present the Guy Lacelle Service Award, honoring dedication and contribution to the ice climbing community.

We are deeply honored to welcome the Bear Canyon Singers & Dancers back to the Bozeman Ice Festival this year. Their presence on Friday night has become one of the most meaningful moments of the entire week, a powerful reminder of the cultural history, stewardship, and community that shape this land we gather on.

The Ice Fest began inviting the Bear Canyon Singers as a way to show respect and honor to the Indigenous peoples connected to these mountains and valleys. Their songs and dances open the evening with grounding, celebration, and a sense of shared purpose.

For many guests who come to the festival for climbing, instruction, and community, the Bear Canyon Singers are the highlight of their experience. Their performance marks the start of winter not just with music, but with gratitude, reflection, and connection.

Join us Friday night to welcome them back and to share in a moment that resonates far beyond climbing.
