The radio does not care what truck it goes in. Everything around it does.

Mount points, body material, cab space and grounding all change from truck to truck, and those are the things that decide whether your install actually performs.

Our two most-ordered pickup packages are the Cobra 29 Complete Pickup Package and the Uniden Pickup Truck CB Package. Both ship as full setups built around radios that have been in working trucks for decades.

Pickups offer more mounting options than any other vehicle.

The math on buying parts separately looks good right up until the second shipping charge.

We get this call regularly. Someone lines up the cheapest radio, the cheapest antenna and the cheapest mount, and the total beats a complete kit. Then the stud does not fit an aluminium body, or the coax is the wrong length, and the savings evaporate.

Our complete kits are matched to your specific year, make and model. Radio, antenna, mount, coax and hardware, all chosen to work together.

Your antenna is not tuned. That's why your range is bad. 🔧

SWR is the step everybody skips, and it's the one that actually decides whether your setup works.

An untuned antenna does two things:

➡️ Reflects power back instead of radiating it
➡️ Cooks your radio's finals over time

A $400 radio on a bad SWR reading will get outperformed by a $90 radio that's dialed in.

Tune it. Then judge it.

"Can my GMRS radio talk to my buddy's CB?"

No. It can't. Not on any channel, not with any antenna, not ever.

Different bands entirely. CB sits at 27 MHz. GMRS lives up at 462-467 MHz. The frequencies don't overlap, so the radios can't hear each other.

This is the single most common question we get, and getting it wrong is expensive. If half your group already runs CB, buying GMRS strands you.

Pick the band your people are already on.

Uniden Pro 538 vs Midland 75-822: two 2-in-1 CB kits at the same price. Which one goes in your truck?

What they share: 40 channels, 4 watts, NOAA weather, dual watch, full scan, instant channel 9 and 19, and a car kit with an external antenna connection.

Uniden Pro 538: adds FM mode, RF gain control, selectable 4W or 1W power, an automatic noise limiter, and the largest LCD in its class with white day and amber night backlighting.

Midland 75-822: 10 weather channels, 5 memory channels, auto battery save, removable BNC antenna, headset jack, an AC charger in the box, and it runs on six AA cells instead of eight to ten.

President Walker IV vs Cobra 29 LTD Classic: modern tech or 50 years of proven analog?

Both are 40-channel AM/FM. Both put out the max legal 4 watts. Both have a built-in SWR meter, RF and mic gain, and PA capability. The spec sheet alone won't settle this one.

The President Walker IV brings the modern stack: NRC digital noise reduction working alongside ANL, NB and Hi-Cut filters, NOAA weather channels with alert, automatic squelch, VOX hands-free, P-Channels, SWR protection to guard the finals, a front USB-C charging port, and a 7-color display with Glow Mode for night driving. It's OEM truck sized, so it drops into factory cubbies and overhead compartments.

The Cobra 29 LTD Classic doesn't compete on features, and it doesn't need to. Analog tactile controls you can find without taking your eyes off the road. An illuminated multifunction meter showing power output, signal strength and SWR at a glance. Dynamike gain, Delta Tune, antenna warning indicator, instant channel 9, and 50-plus years as the number one radio in the truck.

President Randy III vs Cobra HH 50 WX ST: which handheld CB actually belongs in your rig?

Both give you all 40 channels at the max legal 4 watts, NOAA weather, dual watch, channel scan, and the ability to run a real external antenna. That last one matters more than any spec on either box, because the stock rubber duck is what limits every handheld.

The President Randy III is the do-it-all option. AM and FM operation, a rechargeable Li-ion battery with ECO mode, NRC digital noise reduction working with ANL, NB and Hi-Cut filters, CTCSS/DCS tone codes, P-Channels, VOX, a 7-color display and a built-in flashlight. It ships with a desktop dock and a vehicle charging module with an antenna connection, so the same radio works handheld at camp and hardwired in the cab.

The Cobra HH 50 WX ST keeps it simple and comes in under $100. SoundTracker cuts up to 90% of incoming noise, you get 10 NOAA weather channels, instant channel 9 and 19, a detachable antenna, a 12V vehicle cord in the box, and headset or lapel mic support. It runs on nine AA batteries, which means you can keep it alive with a stop at any gas station. For a glovebox or an emergency kit, that's a feature, not a compromise.

Rechargeable and loaded, or simple and always ready? Swipe through, then tell us which one you'd throw in the truck.

Two premium SSB CB radios. About $109 apart. Which one is actually yours?

Same core performance on both: 12W PEP sideband, 40 AM channels, built-in SWR, NOAA weather, PA and talkback, RF and mic gain.

President George II FCC: adds FM mode, NRC noise filtering, Automatic Squelch Control, CTCSS/DCS tones, VOX, dual watch, front USB port. Maximum control.

Uniden Bearcat 980 SSB: full sideband for less, huge display, built-in Radio Check diagnostics, Local/DX filtering, wireless mic ready. Maximum simplicity.

The catch? No FM on the 980. More menus to learn on the George.

Swipe through, then drop your pick in the comments.
