A huge thank you to everyone who has supported Crosscut with a Summer Trail Donation so far! Your generosity helps keep our trails maintained, safe, and accessible for the thousands of runners, hikers, mountain bikers, and families who enjoy them throughout the season.

Thanks to our incredible community, we're making progress toward our goal, but we're not there yet. If you're getting out on the trails this summer, consider making a donation to help sustain the trails and outdoor experiences that make Crosscut such a special place. Every contribution helps support our trails, and year-round access to outdoor recreation.

Thank you for being part of this community and helping us keep the momentum going. Support Crosscut with a Summer Trail Donation today at https://www.crosscutmt.org/donate-summer-trails

👀 This summer, we are building something new and if you've been out on the trails recently, you may have already spotted it in progress near Jane's Gate.

🚧 We're excited to announce the construction of a mid-mountain yurt, a 40-foot yurt that will be installed on a newly built 55-foot deck this summer. When complete, this mid-mountain yurt will serve as a warm, welcoming gathering place for guests, families, and program participants across all seasons.

🛖 This mid-mountain yurt is part of our ongoing commitment to investing in Crosscut's facilities and trails to better serve our community.

⚠️ A quick heads-up for trail users: you may encounter occasional vehicles hauling materials along the Summer Road this summer. Please slow down and use caution in that area and thank you for your patience.

🐝 We are ready to welcome campers!

🎓 Last Monday our entire staff, year-round employees and seasonal summer staff alikem came together for training and orientation. From there, our program areas (Biathlon, Mountain Biking, and Outdoor Education) each held their own program-specific trainings throughout the week.

🦚 Today we welcome the first campers of the summer to Crosscut!

🪺 A limited number of camp spots remain. Check the link in our bio to explore our summer camps.

Good news, most of Crosscut's trails are re-opening today (Wednesday)! 15 miles of single-track are ready to ride, hike, and run.

Gnomadic & Big Thigh Country will remain closed Wednesday and Thursday to allow more time to dry, and will open Friday.

Golden Rule remains closed. It is still wet and muddy and needs some drainage work before we can open it.

Crosscut's Bike Skills Park is closed for maintenance.

Check Trailforks for the latest info on each trail.

Crosscut's Base Area weather station recorded over 2" of rain this weekend. Thanks for your patience while they dried out / continue to dry out.

👀🐻 We've already seen a lot of wildlife while out on the trails so far this summer — black bears, moose, mountain lions, sandhill cranes, and more. Please be sure to carry bear spray, make noise, and be aware of your surroundings when you recreate at Crosscut.

🙌 The majority of Crosscut’s summer trails are open — and we are PUMPED! Fifteen of our 21 miles of singletrack are ready for hiking, trail running, and mountain biking. A few trails remain closed for now, so here’s what you need to know before you go:

⛔️ Golden Rule, Big Thigh Country, and Gnomadic — our three newest trails — are not yet open. These beauties are still holding onto some snow and moisture. They need more time to dry out before we open them up. Stay tuned!

Early summer means some trails may have muddy patches. Do your part to keep our trails healthy by following the best practices:
✅ Hit muddy sections head on — ride or jump through rather than around
❌ Never go off-trail to dodge mud — this causes erosion and long-term damage
❌ If a trail is thoroughly muddy, give it a rest and come back on a drier day

🤙 Visit Trailforks to check out trail status at the link in bio. We’ll see you on the trails!

🦜 We've been geeking out on our feathered friends at Crosscut this spring and have even managed to get a few photos of the elusive creatures. Pictured here: Canada jay, yellow rumped warbler, chipping sparrow, ruby crowned kinglet, white crowned sparrow, and red naped sapsucker. Shout out to our colleague Josh for capturing these photos.
