BOYNE CITY WRESTLING – MHSAA STATE FINALS RECAP
This weekend, three Ramblers competed on the biggest stage in Michigan wrestling, taking the mat at Ford Field for the 2026 MHSAA Individual State Finals. These Ramblers were the first qualifiers from Boyne City in 5 seasons, and they were excited to get the chance to compete on the biggest stage in Michigan wrestling.
Representing Boyne City were Freshman Finn Dart (106), Sophomore Korbin Kopenkoskey (113), and Freshman Kenzee Couturier (Girls 140). Qualifying for the state finals is an incredible accomplishment and a testament to the work these athletes have put in all season.
Finn Dart (106) – Freshman:
Finn battled hard in his first trip to the state finals. After dropping his opening match to the #1 seed from Laingsburg, Finn responded with a gritty 10–9 victory over Carson Struble of Hopkins in the consolation bracket before falling to a strong opponent from Kent City. A tremendous season and a great experience for a freshman on the state stage.
Korbin Kopenkoskey (113) – Sophomore:
Korbin competed in a tough 113 lb bracket, facing two very strong opponents. He opened against Kent City’s Sam Kik before dropping a consolation match to Birch Run. Korbin finishes the season as a state qualifier and regional standout, with big things ahead next year.
Kenzee Couturier (Girls 140) – Freshman:
Kenzee represented Boyne City in the Girls State Finals and showed incredible toughness. After dropping her opening match, she fought back with a 10–8 win over Holt’s Jazmine Yarber-Blodgett before falling in a close 7–4 match to Algonac. An outstanding performance and a bright future ahead.
Competing at Ford Field is an experience few wrestlers get to have, and these three represented Boyne City Wrestling with pride, toughness, and class.
With two freshmen and a sophomore, the future of Rambler Wrestling is extremely bright. Congratulations to Finn, Korbin, and Kenzee on outstanding seasons!
