I have to start this post about Saige Burns explaining the image and audio selected. The image is to celebrate her history as a rodeo queen and the potential that her outfit includes a large buckle :) The audio is perfect, it represents the amazing person she is, along with the importance of faith in her life. I also figured there was a decent chance that it doesn't perfectly represent her faith which I assume she is criticising me for as she reads this.
But on to the reason for the post. This is for all of the Saige Burns' out there. As the high school lacrosse season in VA came to a close this weekend one final time for our 26s, there isn't enough of a spotlight on the Saige 's of the world. Without Saige, there wouldn't have been a Stone Bridge vs Riverside State Championship game for the boys or both teams playing in the Semi-finals for the girls this weekend. Nearly every player on all 4 teams came through Ashburn lacrosse at some point while she was running the organization. That comes without money or recognition. I'm not sending you any money Saige but I am certainly going to give the recognition. Our high school coaches put in a ton of time and effort, and the pay, when it exists at all, might cover gas for the season. But the high school coaches often times inherit a player that has had so much of their future defined already. That can't happen without the rec programs that come before. Finding coaches, fields, and players is more difficult than my daily job. And then there are the parents. On top of that you found time to capture all of it behind the lens. Truly amazing.
So from all of us, a very big thank you is deserved to you and all of the other Saiges out there behind the scenes.
