It’s Monday.
Not quiet anymore.
Not hidden anymore.
…
Jesus enters the temple.
The same city that shouted “Hosanna” yesterday…now watches as He flips tables.
Coins scatter.
Chairs fall.
Voices rise.
This isn’t the gentle picture people prefer.
This is holy.
This is bold.
This is righteous.
“My house shall be called the house of prayer…”
But they had turned it into something else.
Busy.
Corrupted.
Distracting.
Full of activity,
but empty of true worship.
So Jesus cleanses it.
Not to destroy,
but to RESTORE.
Not out of anger without purpose,
but out of love that refuses to leave things broken.
And if we’re honest…
Sometimes we want Palm Sunday Jesus…
the one who is praised, celebrated, easy to receive.
But we resist Monday Jesus…
the one who confronts, corrects, and clears out what doesn’t belong.
Because cleansing is uncomfortable.
It disrupts.
It exposes.
It asks us to let go of things we’ve grown used to.
But He doesn’t cleanse to shame you.
He cleanses because He CARES.
Because your heart was always meant to be
a house of prayer.
A place where His presence dwells,
not where distractions take over.
It’s Monday.
The day Jesus steps in and says,
“This doesn’t belong here.”
So maybe today isn’t about striving…
Maybe it’s about surrendering.
Letting Him overturn what needs to go.
Letting Him clear what’s been crowding your heart.
Letting Him restore what was always meant to be holy.
Because what He cleans,
He FILLS.
And what He fills,
He TRANSFORMS.
What in your heart might Jesus be gently (or boldly) asking you to release?
Pray with me:
Dear Lord, search my heart and show me anything that doesn’t belong. Give me the courage to let go of what You are asking me to surrender. Cleanse my heart and make it a place where Your presence can dwell freely. Remove distractions, habits, or anything that keeps me from true worship. I trust that what You remove, You will replace with something better. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
