WHERE IT ALL BEGAN — NOVEMBER 3, 2018 ❤️

On Saturday, November 3, 2018, we held our very first Colleen De Reuck Cross Country Classic at Nevin Platt Middle School.

Our inaugural champions:

🏆 Men’s 6K

* Open: Sam Parsons — 18:15
* Masters: Jeremy Parks — 20:01

🏆 Women’s 4K

* Open: Janelle Lincks — 13:57
* Masters: Shannon Teslow — 16:59

But perhaps the most special part of that first event was seeing 220 kids take to the course across our 1K, 2K and 3K races.

What started as a small community cross country meet in 2018 grew into something far bigger than we ever imagined.

Aa we prepare to host our final Colleen De Reuck XC Classic, it’s wonderful to look back and remember the athletes, families and young runners who helped start it all.

Every great event has a beginning. This was ours. ❤️

🏃‍♂️ 1 LAST RACE. 9 INCREDIBLE YEARS. 1 FINAL CELEBRATION! ❤️

What an incredible journey it has been!

What started nine years ago as a small cross country meet for our Mountain Lions youth runners grew into one of Colorado’s largest cross country meets in years, hosting numerous State Championships and culminating in the 2024 USATF Masters Cross Country Championships! 🇺🇸

The Colleen De Reuck Cross Country Classic was created to honor one of the greatest distance runners the world has ever seen, Boulder local and four-time Olympian Colleen De Reuck.

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of celebrating some truly legendary athletes from around the world.

🚨 YOUTH RUNNING COACH NEEDED 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️

We are looking for a fun and enthusiastic volunteer coach to help us with our 6-week Mountain Lions youth elementary school running program for ages 5 - 11 years, from September 21 - October 29.

• South Boulder - Monday & Wednesday, 3:30pm - 4:30pm

No prior coaching experience is necessary and we will provide full training support with a great hourly rate.

More than just a race, this event is a celebration of family, friendship, community, and the many things we have to be thankful for. It’s also an opportunity to give back, with proceeds supporting Harvest of Hope Food Pantry.

Harvest of Hope Pantry is the only food pantry in Boulder that serves everyone who comes through its doors. Every week, they provide free supplemental food to approximately 750 shoppers, distributing an average of 3,500 pounds of food every day. Through food drives, local farm donations, retail food recovery, and community support, they provide hope to individuals and families facing food insecurity.

Because of their strategic partnerships and buying power, every dollar donated provides one nutritious meal for someone in need.

To help make an even greater impact, 10% of every race registration will be donated directly to Harvest of Hope Pantry.

This Thanksgiving, let’s come together to celebrate our community and help Harvest of Hope continue providing nutritious food to everyone who walks through their doors.
