A glimpse of life in Punta Chame, Panama. Basically, we rise with the sun at 6:30, catch up on the news via NYT app, eat a breakfast of fresh papaya, banana, melon, watermelon, pineapple with muesli and yogurt and Curt’s homemade bread. Then walk to the beach for our morning kite session. Usually light wind and we are on 11&13m kites. Get back to our little condo in time for lunch of avocado, tomato wrap. Do 8 laps in the pool and now it is Siesta time! Temps hover around 100, too hot to be outside!!!
Afternoons bring big wind and waves for an exhilarating session. 7&9m kites. Now it is Happy Hour! We like to watch the big kite show of local experts shredding into the sunset. Dinner time! We can easily walk to local restaurants and get a great meal or I manage to put something together here. Night time, we watch a Mexican series in Spanish to improve our language skills.
Highlights have been enjoying kiting and fishing with Mark Freytag, sharing our wind and Beach with the crew from US-Mike, Dan, Megyn and Joe. Whirlwind windy 6 days!!

Feliz Ano Nuevo desde Panama!
We made it to Panama after a delicious drink and dinner at The Daily Planet in Burlington,VT and comfy overnight at The Big Yellow House on 12/30. We rose at 3:30 a.m. on 12/31 and arrived in Panama City at 9:30 p.m., just in time for a New Year’s drink at the hotel bar before closing at 10:00! No problema, thanks to Mark Kelly for picking us up in the city and delivering us to Punta Chame Club Bahia the next day. It is beautiful here with lots of birds and trees and clean water and the biggest, isolated beach. We rested on 1/1, then felt ready for a good kite session. Actually had 2, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, it was Perfect-then- COVID!! YES, fever, chills, headache, body aches, cough, everything for Jerri. UGHHHH. That was bad enough; Curt was feeling ok so he launched and had a kitemare, ended up slamming on his knees, one is still swollen and sore. Now it is 1/3 and Curt tests positive for Covid. Luckily we have some food here, survived on eggs and rice and black beans like true Panamanians. We have been tortured by warm winds and watching the kiter show but trying to keep a good attitude with pleasant swims in the pool and dips in the ocean. The few neighbors we have are very friendly. Some locals, some from Canada, Russia, Florida, one from Montana, always with a Buenos Dia salutation. Jan. 9, I am starting to feel better and finally some energy so I make a simplified eggplant parmesan for dinner except that when it came time to cook, we could not get the oven on. We walked to a local cevicheria, arrived a t 6:40, only to be informed that they close at 7:00! The owner recognized us and made a great meal of Pulpo (octupus) for Curt and Langostino (large shrimp) for me, but she reiterated her hours of operation. OK, today is 1/10, I am feeling quite normal, SO READY for some kiting BUT no wind!!! No wind now for a few more days!! I never really thought of myself as superstitious but you know what? That could change, we are staying in Condo #13……
