Job Summary: Strong understanding of cutting edge high end bicycles including, but not limited to, carbon fiber frames, hydraulic brake systems, electronic drivetrains, and suspension technology.

Expected hours per week: 40

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Previous bicycle mechanic work, 3-5 years.
Must be able to read basic instructions and diagrams in English
Must have knowledge of basic math skills
Must have a desire to learn
Ability to do accurate work at a fast pace
Ability to utilize shop tools
Ability to perform physical and environmental checks and document work performed
Ability to use Google G-Suite
Good hand-eye coordination
Ability to lift 50 Ibs
Ability to use power tools
Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of composites / carbon fiber materials
Painting or auto body experience

Pete grew up in Michigan where he started racing bikes when he was 10! Pete started building bikes in the local shop when he was 13. At 18 he moved to Tucson, Arizona to train for mountain bike racing full time while working as a mechanic there. He was back and forth between Wisconsin and Arizona for a few seasons racing and working full time in shops. He achieved a goal he set to race for the national team at a European World Cup in 2017. In 2019 he decided to settle down in Colorado to continue training towards even bigger goals!

About Broken Carbon: Broken Carbon is the premier carbon fiber bicycle repair shop in the US. With over 10 years of experience in repairing composite bicycle frames, we are the go-to company. Our location serves the strong Front Range cycling community as well as customers across the country.
Job Summary: Preparation of damaged parts including paint and damaged fiber removal by hand and power tools. Application of multiple fiber types onto the component through wet lay-up process. Knowledge of fabric direction and ply orientation is a must. After curing, finish work to maximize cosmetic appearance.
Expected hours per week: 40
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Previous composite laminating or auto body experience
Must be able to read basic instructions and diagrams in English
Must have knowledge of basic math skills
Must have a desire to learn
Ability to do accurate work at a fast pace
Ability to form materials to parts and maximize compaction
Knowledge of epoxy resin systems
Ability to utilize shop tools
Ability to perform physical and environmental checks and document work performed
Good Hand to Eye coordination
Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Ability to apply skills to complex shapes, ply build-ups, surface profiles, and contours, with minimal supervision
Ability to apply processes to complex parts
Complete functions with minimal scrap and errors
Ability to coordinate and optimize workflow
Understanding of bicycle terminology and basic bicycle mechanical skills is a plus
Painting or auto body experience
Job Type: Salary
Salary: $17.00 - 20.00/hr

We’ve been absent from social media for a while so we wanted to give everyone some updates about BC:
- Boulder location is busier than ever. We have 2 full-time employees that have thousands of repairs under their belt and are constantly working hard to get riders back on the trail
- Grand Junction location is up and running headed by our founder, Brady Kappius. Now taking drop offs and getting busier by the day. Will be looking to expand in the future!
- New bikes or warranty replacement bikes are harder to come by due to Covid19 - for this reason, it’s more important than ever to consider repairing your frame rather than replacing it! We have a 5 year transferable warranty on all of our repairs. We stand behind the science and engineering that goes into the repairs we perform.

What can you do to help Broken Carbon?
- Keep spreading the word about our services! Not everyone knows you can repair carbon fiber safely, and that it is often more cost effective than replacement.
- Ask us any questions you have about a broken bike you want to consider repairing!
- Keep getting outdoors and sharing the love of cycling

Been busy repairing bikes instead of posting on Instagram lately! This hardtail came in after a drive side crash causing damage to the seat stay. Our carbon repair technician Jack got it repaired and added matte black paint. Now it’s ready to get back on the trail!

BROKEN CARBON IS OPEN! Colorado has deemed bicycle repair a necessary industry through the COVID-19 crisis. We are taking additional precautions for the safety of our customers and our staff. Turn around times may be slightly extended, but we can fix your bike! Please be cautious while riding both indoors and out. We have seen an uptick in trainer related damage like the one below. Be sure to check your axle fitment and tightness!
