For the first time in team history, our IC team brought two cars to competition! We took CB6 and CB7 to Formula Wheat, and on Day 1 we got both of them through every dynamic event: skid pad, acceleration, and autocross. We also took home our first-ever win in acceleration, and the weekend gave several of our newer drivers their first real time behind the wheel.

During Day 2, a hub on CB7 sheared after extensive fatigue, so we swapped CB6’s hub into CB7 for endurance. The team was prepped and the car was running well, but after a few laps we chose to pull in rather than overstress it and risk damage heading into the rest of the season.

We met and exceeded our competition goals, and we did it by working well together and making smart calls as a team. Huge thank you to KState (Powercat Motorsports) and to everyone who made this weekend happen.

Our FSAE Team has just wrapped up our Onboarding for Fall of 2026! Thank you to all of the dedicated new members who stuck with us through our new and improved onboarding process, and for Celsius for keeping us fueled all month.

The new members have been active over the last few weeks. They participated in a testing day on our CB7 car, and spent last Saturday learning the shop layout and helping prepare it for the upcoming year.

We are so happy to welcome all the new members to the team!

Michigan recap ⚡️

This summer, CU FSAE EV traveled to Michigan for our very first Formula SAE Electric competition. While we didn’t make it through technical inspection this year, we’re leaving with valuable experience and knowledge.

We’re heading back to Boulder with a clearer vision, more motivation, and a team that’s ready to come back stronger.

Competition 2026- CB7

Going into this week, we had a perfectly running car and were out doing some final tests when our engine spun a bearing. With limited time to spare, we found a stock R7 engine supposedly capable of producing substantial horsepower. However, after taking it to a dyno, we concluded that this new engine had a mystery issue, and made only 15 horsepower.

While disappointed, we persisted. With the help of many teams, including, , , , , we had an entire engine to pull parts from, a working Haltech, and material to fix our intake. After 72 hours of work on the original engine and help from many teams, we were able to complete brakes and make it through Endurance.

This was a true test of our strength and we passed. Thank you to every team who helped us out this week. CU next year & SKO BUFFS! 🏎️ 💨 🔥

Great work today during Day 2 of our IC Michigan Competition! Today we:

✅ Passed tech
✅ Completed cost event
✅ Finished design event
✅ Fueled up and survived tilt test
✅ Completed noise

Tomorrow, we are going to complete brakes and get ready to compete in more events later in the day. Our members are working along the clock to get the car ready, Sko Buffs!

Happy Michigan IC Competition Day 1! Today, we passed through SES and the aerodynamic mechanical tech check. We are preparing the car for final tech, dynamic testing, and design presentations. Great work today from everyone and we’ll be back again tomorrow. 😎 🏎️ 💨
