RIP Jim! You will be greatly missed!
We mourn the passing of James D. “Jim” Hamilton, a lifelong leader and champion of the game whose impact on soccer in the United States will be felt for generations.
Jim devoted decades of service to growing the sport—from his early days as a recreational player to leadership roles at every level of the game. He served as the first President of the Board of the United States Soccer Foundation, helping guide its mission and legacy following the 1994 FIFA World Cup.
A dedicated leader and board member within the United States Adult Soccer Association and the Washington State Adult Soccer Association, Jim’s steady commitment and leadership helped strengthen the game at the local, state, and national levels.
In 2025, he was named an Honorary Life Member of U.S. Soccer—a fitting recognition of a lifetime devoted to the sport.
We honor Jim’s legacy and extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the entire soccer community.
