posts have been too few and far between in the last few years…
Today, I’m officially celebrating a half marathon PR!!
Okay, okay it really actually wasn’t all that fast and I know that I can do better. Between the heat and the recovering ankle sprain, I took the race conservatively, crossing the finish line in 2:16:47. But the beauty of having only ever ran one half in my life, untrained on a week and half notice, means that as long as I didn’t blow up, I was going to get that PR!
As I try to navigate my future athletic goals, I do think that a sub-2 hour half is an achievable goal. Maybe one day, I’ll actually train for road races and will go after these benchmark times!
For now, as the saying goes, if you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready!! I’m gonna keep staying ready to jump into random races, and to chip away at my 100 miler training. I’ll probably run this coming weekend, and might find a few ultras this summer, all with my sights on the Midstate Massive.
Thanks once again to for letting me step on the Fairfield Half Marathon as a member of Team Athletic!!
