Shooting Touch is a global sport-for-development organization Founded in 2007, Shooting Touch Inc.

utilizes a sport-for-social-development model that invests in youth and women of color by providing increased access to physical activity and education that encourages healthy habits and personal development. Since its inception, Shooting Touch has grown from a grassroots basketball program in Boston into an international non-governmental organization that has served over 25,000 youth and women in

six different countries. Shooting Touch was founded with the goal of taking the convening power of sport to help improve the lives of youth and women facing race, gender and health opportunity gaps by using basketball to achieve three critical objectives -
1) Provide equal access to physical activity
2) Increase access to health education and health services
3) Promote social change

We currently operate two signature sport-for-development programs simultaneously - one in Boston, MA and the other in Eastern Rwanda. The combined organization directly serves over 2,000 youth and women and indirectly impacts an additional 7,500 youth and women every day. Our detailed curriculum and program provide on- and off-court health education and intervention, mentorship and empowerment towards a pathway to a better future. We serve -
Boston: Over 200 girls, ages 9-17 throughout 5 of Boston’s urban communities. Rwanda: Over 1,300 youth, ages 7-21, and 700 women 21+, from 6 rural communities in the Republic of Rwanda’s Eastern and Northern Provinces.

A powerful International Women’s Day in Nyamirama! 💜🏀

More than 500 community members came together in Kayonza District to celebrate, connect, and uplift women and girls through sport.

The day featured a 3K march for equality and a full lineup of basketball, health testing, and community moments. A true celebration of the strength and impact of women and girls, and the continued push for a more equitable future.

Pat—now with the Charlotte Hornets and a proud Boston native—has renewed his multi-year major gift supporting our work in Rwanda.

His leadership and generosity will allow us to increase our programming and expand our court infrastructure in Africa, so we can deliver more meaningful opportunities and health impact for the communities there.

This Sunday, we had an incredible National Girls & Women in Sports Day celebration hosted by The Sports Bra Boston, You Got It Girl, and Shooting Touch. 🙌

Together, we created a space where young girls in our community could explore different sports, try new skills, hear from local organizations, connect with inspiring role models, and experience the joy of movement. The energy in the room was a powerful reminder: access matters. Representation matters. Sport changes lives.
