As an Infection Prevention Practitioner, patient safety is the number one priority.

Everyday, the amazing team of nurse preventionists I am a part of ensures that:
🦠 Healthcare workers wash their hands and get proper vaccinations;
💊 Doctors and pharmacists provide you with appropriate antibiotics at the appropriate time;
⚕️Catheters or indwelling devices are placed in your body after your skin receives proper cleaning and are kept clean and/or removed as soon as possible;
💉 Safe injection practices are followed at all times;
🩺 Healthcare workers wear gloves, gowns, and masks at the right times;
🏥 and your room and any equipment that is used on you will be clean.

Each of us—patients, families, and all disciplines of healthcare personnel—have an important role to play in preventing infections.

Becoming informed about Infection Preventionists and the infection prevention basics will help patients and their families stay healthy while receiving healthcare.

Be brave! Get your flu shot! 💉🩷🦄

Why get a flu shot, you might ask?! To save a life - maybe even your own. Like most viruses, influenza does not discriminate. While flu is usually more severe in the very young and the elderly, it’s not impossible to get quite sick - and even need hospitalization - at any age. So be brave, prevent that infection!

Great book. 🍎🍏🍎 I love when I’m finished with a book and I instantly miss the characters…. This was one of those. If you have parents, siblings, a significant other - I think you’ll love this one. I just might have to read it again… 🙌

Some days we’re able to grab a quick lap around the hospital… it’s a mile walk! 🚶‍♀️🚶🚶‍♂️

Gets our ❤️’s pumping and rejuvenates us 😀 - we’re definitely more productive (and pleasant, lol) afterwards! 🙌

I was driving home tonight with a sense of dread. 😑 I had not planned what I was cooking for dinner. I forgot, I picked this gorgeous pasta primavera meal kit this week as part of my Alstede Farms Winter Grocery Share. It was waiting for me when I arrived home! Less than 30 min later, dinner was served! 🍽 Thank you !!! Delicious!!!! 😋

We’ve made it this far! ❤️ The year is ending, but the Is just beginning! My sweet Coco 🐾 and i are spreading some cheer this season! After the year we’ve had , I feel like a we could all use a little more love and happiness.

Happy 8th An-KNEE-versary to me!!! ❤️🦵🏼🦵🏼❤️

I’m not only celebrating 🥳 my own journey today- but all of yours as well.

Whatever your journey is, wherever you are in that journey, keep your eyes on the prize! When you put the work in, the end result is nothing short of magical!

Eight years ago I laid in a hospital bed, today I will spend the day traversing on those titanium knees all over that same hospital 🏥, vaccinating 🦠💉interested patients prior their discharge.

Anything is possible if you just keep moving forward! 🙌

Catching the wind beneath my wings. ❤️

I was texting a dear friend as I whirled from one unit to the next…. When I looked back at this pic, something struck me.

Destiny. 🙌 I am back where I began over two decades ago- and it’s so good.

In 23 years I’ve found my life partner and soul mate, lost a parent, birthed 4 amazing souls, gained bionic body parts, been held up at gun point, began a business, and survived a pandemic (not to mention a few more things… 😆).

I’ve found my way back into scrubs. I NEVER expected to be here, nor to enjoy it as much as I am.

I’ve always said - being a nurse is a bit like being in the mafia. You never really get out. ❤️

Happy Independence Day 🇺🇸 America! Chase your dreams- listen to your heart - find what makes you shine.

Have you ever looked at a goal and though... “Ugh, impossible!” I know I have. I looked at these titanium knees, took inventory of my very limited ability to move and was unsure if I’d ever walk correctly again. That seemed so far away, so impossible. 😕

Nine months of literally one step at a time, and I did indeed achieved what I had thought was impossible! 😊

If you didn’t know I had these bad boys put in- you’d never know by watching me walk. Those months of work paid off. 💗

This year I will celebrate my knees 8th birthday! I think I’ll mark that milestone with Gooey Caramel Candy Bites or maybe their Fudgey Brownie Candy Bites (with only 1g of sugar!). Impossible! Or is it??
