Their Duty Has Ended. Their Loyalty Never Will.
As we get ready for the Baystate Dirty Dog Trail Run-Ruck-Walk 5K, we want to recognize four Massachusetts police K-9s whose service and sacrifice deserve to be remembered.
K-9 Koda – Brockton Police Department
K-9 Rush – Boston Police Department
K-9 Kitt – Braintree Police Department
K-9 Frankie – Massachusetts State Police
These K-9s were more than police dogs. They were trusted partners, protectors, and loyal companions who stood beside their handlers, ready to put themselves in harm's way to protect others.
Behind every K-9 is a handler who shared countless hours of training, long shifts, difficult calls, and a bond built on trust. When a department loses a K-9, it loses more than a working dog. It loses a member of its family.
As we prepare to hit the trails, we wanted to take this opportunity to recognize these four heroes and the important role police K-9s play in keeping our communities safe.
