🙈MAYBE WHAT YOU ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT IS ACTUALLY REALLY YOUR FAULT??

🤔🤷🏻‍♀️So many times I have caught myself dissatisfied with something, complaining about something or even placing the blame of my misfortune on someone or something else.

🤔I have always had this thing about needing my room to be dark to sleep. To the point I have covered up bright alarm clocks in hotels with a pair of socks. 🧦🤣
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✅I had no idea until now this was a good thing and helping me boost my metabolism. 🎉
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🙌As a counselor I help people try to get better sleep and one of the findings has always been have a dark room, decrease screen time before bed, have a bedtime routine, etc...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
❌I am always amazed by how many people fall asleep with the TV on or lay down to read and fall asleep with the light on.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🙌Maxey’s Steakhouse…..a favorite in the panhandle on Highway 83.

🙋‍♀️If you want a great meal with an upscale taste but a hometown feel….Maxey’s is your place. Located in Wheeler Texas, you can find this restaurant and it won’t disappoint.

✅For healthy eating they do have a grilled chicken on the menu.

🤷🏻‍♀️BUT….IT IS A STEAKHOUSE.

🤑The filet, although pricey, is a great lean choice of meat and the flavor is incredible.

✅Maxey’s has a salad bar as well and to keep it healthy go for the salad with the fat free dressings they provide at the end of the bar.

😍The filet along with their baked sweet potato which I hold the fixings on and then just add a little Splenda. It is perfect!!

You gotta try it!! 🎉

Body positivity is one of the hardest think for women to do. Society's norms are to dislike something about our bodies and those who exude body positivity can be viewed in a negative way---attention seeking or self-righteous.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In my 31 day December challenge the day that nearly derailed all of the participants was having them share something they liked about their bodies. I was amazed at their hesitance and inability to do this.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is ok to love your body.
It is ok to say you like your biceps.
It is ok to have imperfections in some areas of your body.
It is ok to be confident in the clothes you wear..no matter what size you are!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Guard your thinking starting today and every time you think something negative about your body--ZAP that thought and switch it to something you love about your body instead.

🙀Life is busy! Do you pack every minute with something to do or maybe you get in the mindset that when I am not working I should be resting!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤔Examine your thoughts around exercise and see what things you tell yourself. It is very likely you have some negative thinking that is attached to exercise.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👎🏼It's too hard.
👎🏼I don't know what to do.
👎🏼I only have 20 minutes.
👎🏼I'm too tired.
👎🏼I need to lose weight first.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉Identify the negative thoughts and flip them to affirmations like these:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👍🏼It will be hard at first but I have to start somewhere.
👍🏼I will look up exercises online or hire a coach.
👍🏼I will make the most of my 20 minutes.
👍🏼I am tired but once I start moving I will feel good.
👍🏼I will build some muscle so I can lose weight easier.

🎉Did you know…..If you are just stating out and can only workout 20 minutes even 6 times per month... that is 2 hours of workouts in the month. That is a win!

👉Here are benefits to working out with your significant other:

❤️1. Shared achievements. When you come home from the gym you can talk about your progress and things that happened at the gym, goals and accomplishments and the conversation can be mutual.

❤️2. Working out can be fun! You can get in the occasional smile and flirt with your partner at the gym and taught with each other along the way.

❌ABSOLUTELY NOT!

👉Yogurt is a dairy food made from the bacterial fermentation of milk and can be made from skim milk to whole milk. There are so many yogurt variations to choose from and many of the commercial brands are laden with sugar.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉Plain, unsweetened yogurt has many beneficial nutrients to add to our diets, including protein. If you choose the GREEK variety you will further increase your protein intake because Greek yogurt is a thicker variety and much higher in protein than regular yogurt.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉As you can see in my comparison photos both yogurts are plain and non-fat; one is Greek and one is regular.

👉They both carry the same amount of calories but if you look further you see not all calories are equal. The Greek yogurt has twice as much protein as the regular yogurt. The regular yogurt has almost 3 times the amount of carbohydrates.

👉If you are counting macros in your diet this is an important thing to know as although they may taste a lot alike they are WAY DIFFERENT in nutritional content.

They are your carbs/protein/fat counts in your diet.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🙌Macro counting has gained a lot of popularity in recent years BECAUSE IT WORKS!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🙋‍♀️I have tried the low-carb restricted dieting in the past which also works but is just not sustainable and can leave you feeling energy zapped.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▶️I suggest using a food tracker app like My Fitness Pal to play with different macro variations.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The following recommendation ranges are out there:
Carbs 45-65% of total calories
Fats 20-35% of total calories
Protein 10-35% of total calories
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I love macro counting because:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✅It really does not take much time and once you get the hang of it you are set for life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✅You can work in your favorite foods and not feel restricted.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✅You rewire your brain to see food as fuel.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✅You are more likely to stick with this plan long-term.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

✅This is a taco soup version that helps fit in with those of you who count your macros!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉My recipe made 10 total servings which was about 280 gram per serving/bowl.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉Macro counts which are exact to the batch that I made and I had 22.6 ounces of total cooked hamburger meat.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Calories: 309/serving
Protein: 17
Carbohydrates: 21
Fat: 17.5
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I did not add in corn to this recipe but if you want to it will add more carbs and calories and it better fit my macro counts without the corn. I also ate 1-1/2 servings to fit my needed.macro counts so@adjust if needed.

😢ARE YOU FEELING DEPRESSED?

👉As a mental health counselor I see people daily for depression and anxiety.

✋The first thing I assess for is the presence of one or more deficits in the following things:

▶️1. Are you eating enough? Are you eating the right foods? Are you eating too much sugar? Are you skipping meals? Are you overweight? Our moods can be directly tied to our eating habits.

▶️2. Are you moving regularly during the day? Are your muscles strong enough to sustain your daily activities? Is your heart conditioned enough to give you stamina through your day? Exercise increases your "feel-good" hormones naturally.

▶️3. Are you surrounding yourself with negative people? Are you around people who make you better? Attitudes are contagious. When you are in healthy relationships you feel contentment which releases those "feel-good" hormones and make us feel cared for.

▶️4. Are you sleeping 7+ hours each night? Sleep is when the body heals.

▶️5. Do you know your 'WHY"? Are you setting daily goals and reaching them and feeling good about yourself?

✅Working in these 5 areas can ward off depression and lay the foundation for good mental health! How do you rank with each?

😬Nothing destroys confidence quicker than you getting in your own head with lofty thinking but no real plan to get to where you aspire to go!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⬇️Try these things instead:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Set realistic goals for yourself.
2. Write out your WHY that has an emotional reason
3. Have someone hold you accountable/tell someone
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🏃🏼‍♀️If your goal was to get fit or lose weight in 2022 and you have already missed the mark.... STOP BEATING YOURSELF UP! There are more of you that have done that than have stuck with their intentions.

🧩You probably just failed to do one of the above. You can still start now! Begin with step 1 above and work your way down the list.
