*New* Summer Series : Beginner Pilates Mat with Props on Wednesdays 11:45am-12:45pm. Series runs June 21 thru August 16. Only $120 for 9-week series or $20 Drop-In. This class will focus on introducing the principles of Pilates thru classical exercises modified as needed to meet where each body is at and utilizing props to support positions or to enhance the experience of the movements.

All levels welcome.

Strength training isn’t just for body builders. In addition to 150 minutes of aerobic exercise each week, Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans recommend at least 2 days of full-body resistance training per week.

What is resistance training? Think of any movements where your muscles have to pull or push against something, whether by using bodyweight exercises, like push-ups or squats, or equipment exercises that use resistance bands, dumbbells, kettlebells, etc. In Pilates exercises, both bodyweight and spring resistance work together to help build muscle strength.

Join Elizabeth to explore how Pilates can introduce resistance training into your weekly fitness routine.

Let The Sunshine In…. As the days get shorter, I let our studio plants sit closer to the window when classes aren’t in session to let them absorb as much sunlight as they can. In fact, I find myself also nestling in a little closer to the window as well, choosing a favorite piece of equipment set close to the front, to soak in the warmth of the day before the cold nights set in.

RESISTANCE IS FUTILE? I think not. Resistance bands are THE most lightweight, portable, secret little bundles of strength training available to you! They be small but they be fierce in their ability to engage your muscles and provide you feedback to improve your posture and find better alignment in your body.
