Bolton Summer XC Series

Bolton Summer XC Series This series was created in 2009 as a fundraiser for the Bolton HS track team and as a way to get families out to run on a weekly basis. Come try it!

Completely off-road, this XC series is all about getting all of the family out and running on Wednesday nights all summer. We start with the toddler run-for-fun race at 6PM. There is no charge, just lots of cheering and fun. At 6:10PM we move up to the youth 1 mile race. It is one loop around the fields and they are done! We charge $3. At 6:30PM we hold the 2 mile race. It is 2 miles around the fi

elds and into the woods and it is Bolton tough. There are roots and rocks and hills galore. You will feel like you got your money's worth for your $5. The 2 mile race and youth 1 mile are timed and results are posted within a few hours of the end of the race. Points are assigned for the top 3 in each age group and at the end of the summer, top point scorers are awarded prizes at the end of the series party. Bring your family and come out and run the Farm. You will be glad you tried it!

This years Bolton Summer XC Series was a great success!

Almost 60 kids raced the 1 mile and close to 170 kids and adults competed in the 2 mile races.
We raised over $1,500 for the BHS XC and T&F teams. We also will give the Heritage Farm Commission $300 to help maintain the grounds of the Bolton Heritage Farm.
Thank you for braving the heat and your inner voice saying stay home and relax every Wednessay night! 😜🏃🏽‍♂️🏃‍♀️

I love how so many families made it a night out.

This Wednesday, July 30th, is the last evening of races in our 6 week series. That means pizza, awards, and sharing stories! The awards are all locally made!
Bring additional picnic food for dinner as we work on tabulating the scores.
Pizza at 6:50pm and awards will be at 7:30pm.

We are so grateful for the supporters of our running series!
Thank you to the Shenipsit Striders who cover our insurance and take care of our finances.
Thank you to the Bolton Greater Together Community Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving for awarding us a grant. The grant allows us to keep the races FREE for 13 and under and keeps the series donation based so no one is left out!
The grant covers the port-o-potty, marketing, awards, timing, and pizza party at the end. This allows up to give all donations to the Bolton High School Cross Country and Track & Field teams! In years past we have used the funds to purchase a tent, 1/2 zip tops, track gear and much more.
